In recent weeks we have showcased some cool and unusual watches up for auction on Catawiki, but did you know Catawiki has much more to offer than watches? Basically, if it’s rare, sought after or highly collectable, it’s on Catawiki, and there are some amazing treasured possessions and hard to find items up for auction all the time.
The Catawiki difference is that each and every item for sale has been vetted and the Seller is required to provide verifiable ID before so much as a Euro can be bid. Catawiki Auctioneers, each specialists’ in their field, are on hand to answer questions, and to sort the not so collectable chaff from the highly desirable wheat. So, what you see up for auction on Catawiki is always the pick of the crop. Below are a few interesting examples of auctions, both high ticket and low, happening right now that might appeal to another of your passions besides watches.

I’d like to say this car is older than me, but alas it’s not. Fitted with a Holley performance carburetor and a V8 Big Block engine, it’s a 1968 Ford Galaxie Convertible with chromed bumpers, half leather upholstery, a wooden steering wheel and power steering. One press of a button and the electric roof slides back. The tires have seen only a few miles. This amazingly well preserved muscle car is based in the Netherlands. Current bidding: £10,558.
If you can’t afford a Breitling, you could at least treat yourself to Breitling ballpoint pen.
Made in 2000, the case is Tiger’s Eye Tortoise Brown and is, of course, a limited edition. A real collector’s item for any Breitling fan, the pen weighs 2.05 ounces and measures just over 5.5 inches. Current bidding: £118.
Juán Giménez Martin. Spanish. (1858-1901) Amorous Advance
This is a finely painted oil on canvas of a seductive charmer trying to seduce a señorita. Her friend, hidden away on the terrace above, watches and listens intently. It looks like his initial advance is being spurned, so he may have to try a little harder, or maybe a little less. It was painted by renowned listed Spanish artist Juán JIMÉNEZ MARTIN, 1856-1901. Signed bottom right Giménez Martin/Rome bottom right. The artist lived in Madrid and Rome. The eye is drawn to the old man walking down the alley towards the couple. Will he ruin the man’s chances, is he the senorita’s overly protective father? Then there are the old bull fighting posters peeling off the walls, and the scattered vegetables on the ground. A wonderful piece by an artist whose works fetch high prices at top auction houses around the world. Current bidding: £837.
