At Le Mans this year, Chopard took the opportunity to unveil a new watch, the Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Jacky Ickx Edition. It’s a 100-piece limited series dedicated to Jacky Ickx, one of the greatest drivers of the 20th century, with an impressive track record and a longstanding role as ambassador of both Chopard and Porsche. This new model bears the colors of the legendary champion who was six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It was way back in August 2013 that we first reviewed the successful Kickstarter brand Original Grain Watches,(they were so successful that in the all-time Kickstarter fundraising stakes, they rank third). Now Original Grain is back on a new Kickstarter mission to raise funds for their new range of watches…this time using woods selected from aged American oak whiskey barrels, chosen for their durability.
British luxury brand Bremont’s new America’s Cup Series has been unveiled as a classic watch collection launched with two Special Edition watches, the Bremont AC I and AC II. These two models were inspired by the J-Class yachts of the 30s. Bearing the ‘London’ mark on the dial, all of the watches are manufactured in the UK. The watches are also delivered in Bremont’s English made America’s Cup leather wallets.
British luxury watchmakers Christopher Ward have announced the winner of the brand’s #makehisday Father’s Day competition. The £500 voucher prize went to Nina Ghataora, a student at Leeds University, for her heartwarming entry about her father. Nina very nearly missed out on her prize because on the day the winner was chosen she had dropped her phone into a bowl of soup and was uncontactable for two days!
