If your love of all things horological extends to digital alarm clocks, the Sandman Doppler may prove of interest. It’s a Kickstarter project that has 8 days to run and has accrued $125,825 in pledges from a $25,458 goal. The Sandman Doppler has stereo speakers, six USB charging ports and is Amazon Alexa-enabled. It also has shortcut buttons for your favorite Alexa commands and macros, and an auto-dimming RGB LED display.
The charging ports can be used for your phone or your smart watches, and through your phone you can feed your favorite Spotify tracks through the Doppler’s full range stereo speakers, or your radio app of choice while your phone charges.
Because the Doppler is Amazon Alexa enabled, you can communicate with the Doppler using your voice. Amazon Alexa is built in the cloud, so it is always getting smarter. As you probably know, Alexa, adapts to your speech patterns, vocabulary, and preferences with new features continually being added. Ask Alexa to answer questions, hear the news, get weather and traffic reports, control your smart home (if you have one), and more. And there’s no fiddling around trying to set the alarm function, just ask Alexa to wake you at your chosen hour.
The Doppler’s customizable smart buttons can repeat a command at the press of a button for those times when you want to stream music or dim the lights – assuming once again you have a smart home. And the Doppler connects to your home’s internet wirelessly via Wi-Fi so you can receive weather notifications, Amazon Alexa, and automatic time syncing.
All of this for less than the price of an entry level G-SHOCK. The Kickstarter price for The Doppler is $119.
