Match The Watch With The Shoe: Nike Air Force 1 NAI KE “JADE” Chinese New Year Limited Edition

Nike Air Force 1 NAI KE "JADE" Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is coming a little earlier than usual this year, in fact it is just a little more than three weeks away, so to celebrate Nike China is releasing another limited edition sneaker.

This year, the celebratory shoe to welcome in the Fire Rooster, will take the form of two Nike Air Force 1 models in a NAI KE “JADE” theme. For men, the Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Low QS is a refined version of the original design that features a sleek all-white upper enhanced with touches of Jade green on the heel tab, tongue branding patch, lace aglets and outsole. Gold details symbolize good fortune, while an Air-sole unit provides ultra-lightweight cushioning.

In Chinese culture, jade symbolizes nobility and virtue and is often associated with 35th anniversaries, thus a fitting choice for the Air Force 1′s 35th birthday this year. The Nike Air Force 1 NAI KE “Jade” sneakers will be released in mid-January exclusively in China, although there will be a global release later in the year. No word on price yet.

As always, we have found a selection of watches that match the mood or the season of the sneakers.

KINGRS Automatic

A suitably Chinese made 43mm watch running on a Seagull automatic movement with a Swarovski Jade stone bezel. The watch is branded as KINGRS, but this is China, so for the right MOQ you can have any brand name you want on the dial. Price: Open to negotiation.

SEIKO Recraft

SEIKO went back to their 1970s archives to present the Recraft series; modern stainless steel automatic watches but with larger 44mm retro dials. This model features a green dial with luminous gold-tone hands and index hour markers. With minute markers around the outer rim the watch has luminescent hands and markers. As with the retro versions of this watch, there is a day of the week and date display at the 3 o’clock position. The automatic movement has a 41-hour power reserve and a transparent case back to enjoy the workings of the movement. Outstanding value at $115.00

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116519

A legendary sports chronograph by Rolex first introduced in 1960. The name of the watch alludes to the U.S. car racing mecca Daytona Beach in Florida.

When the first automatic chronograph movement was introduced in 1988 initially Rolex employed the El Primero by Zenith. It was clocked down for ease of maintenance from the original 36,000 A/h to 28,800 A/h. To harmonize the balance of the dial design, the date function in the movement was not used. Rolex renamed the movement Rolex 4030,but since 2000, which includes the 116519, the in-house-developed manufacture movement Rolex 4130 is used. Price: $15,950.00

Piaget Altiplano Year of the Rooster

To celebrate the arrival of the Rooster, Piaget offers an Altiplano ultra-thin Chinese Zodiac watch in a hand-painted motif. Featuring a white mother-of-pearl background dial, the rooster is pained in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel with feathers in tones of gray, white and black. The bright red comb on his head and wattle on his chin offset it. Master enameller Anita Porchet has painted the dial and will paint each of the 38 limited edition pieces being made. The watch is powered by the Piaget 430-P manual-wind movement and is housed in an 18-karat white gold case 38mm set with diamonds. Price: $61,000.00
