The world’s favorite color is apparently a rich teal named Marrs Green. Some 30,000 people in over 100 countries voted for their favorite color from a selection of public submissions, as part of a major global survey conducted over six months by the paper company GF Smith.
The color name was suggested by Dundee-based UNESCO employee Annie Marrs, who said she was inspired by the blue, gray and green tones of the River Tay. Accordingly, Marrs Green has been added to GF Smith’s Colorplan paper range.
Of course, watch brands both large and small are extremely proactive when it comes to fashionable colors, and incorporate trending colors in their dials. Brands have been working with Marrs Green type hues for quite some time, and below are a few examples of watches that either match the color closely or complement it well.
Among top artists there is an ongoing battle for color dominance and even color ownership. Last year we showcased the Anish Kapoor Sequential One S110 Evo Vantablack designed by the world-famous sculptor Anish Kapoor for MCT.
Vantablack has been described as the world’s blackest black, and only Anish Kapoor has the rights to its use. This exclusive right to use of a color has caused outrage and uproar in the art world and caused artist Stuart Semple to create the world’s pinkest pink available to everyone except Anish Kapoor. Before purchasing the paint, you have to swear to the following:
By adding this product to your cart you confirm that you are not Anish Kapoor, you are in no way affiliated to Anish Kapoor, you are not purchasing this item on behalf of Anish Kapoor or an associate of Anish Kapoor. To the best of your knowledge, information and belief this paint will not make its way into the hands of Anish Kapoor.
It was not long however, before Anish Kapoor posted the picture below on his Instagram account called Dirty Corner.
Now there is a campaign called ‘Share the Black’ which features an image of Sir Anish Kapoor in pink. It probably won’t come as any surprise to learn that Anish Kapoor has absolutely no intention of sharing the black.
