Watchmakers have taken inspiration from all kinds of sources, works of art, sports cars, aircraft, but German watchmakers Schaumburg took their inspiration from bullfrogs. AQM Bullfrog watches form part of the Schaumburg Aquamatic range of extremely robust and highly pressure-proof watches.
Schaumburg Watches is a small watchmaking factory based in Rinteln in Schaumburg, Lower Saxony. Their latest range, the AQM Bullfrog, is ergonomically shaped, robust yet elegant looking range of watches made from durable but lightweight titanium with a shape inspired by that of the bullfrog.
Water resistant to 200 meters, the prominent case of an AQM Bullfrog is designed to attract attention. Schaumburg insist that the shape of the case ensures excellent readability at all angles making the dial clearly visible all the time. This is particularly important when underwater when a vertical viewing angle during a dive is critical to eliminate reflection.
The 42 mm diameter watch has a height of between 12 and 15 mm with a screw-down crown but the use of titanium ensures the watch is not clunky to wear. The watches come on a marbled vintage-style strap with a titanium clasp.
The dial features Luminova afterglow pigments for optimum readability at night and in the water. The glass is of scratch-proof sapphire glass and the watches are powered by a robust SW20 or SW50 automatic Swiss-made automatic movement.
The top of range model in the AQM Bullfrog range is the high-tech chronograph, Bullfrog Chronovision, which allows the wearer to keep track of timeframes of any length using the stop-watch functionality.
The AQM Bullfrog comes in three versions, including two three hand versions, The Bullfrog at a competitively priced EUR 1,195 and the Bullfrog Vision featuring a 24-hour dial at EUR1,238, and finally the Bullfrog Chronovision chronometer priced at EUR1,995. Each of the watches comes equipped with a watch winding tool.
