The World’s Oldest Cognac Closed In A Montegrappa Fountain Pen

Montegrappa and Wealth Solutions, experts in building collections of rare alcoholic beverages, works of art, watches and pens, have launched a limited edition of the Cognac Pen – a unique fountain pen enhanced with a drop of the oldest cognac in the world. The premiere of this extremely rare collector’s item took place in Warsaw earlier this month.

The Cognac Pen is a unique collector’s item created by Montegrappa. It contains the oldest cognac in the world, provided by the Wealth Solutions company. The liquor, enclosed in a capsule, is from 1762 and has been officially entered into the Guinness Book of Records. The Cognac was purchased by Wealth Solutions in 2014 for US$60,000 at Bonham’s New York’s Whisky, Cognac and Rare Spirits auction.

The capsule containing the precious liquor is placed at the top of the ferrule. In keeping with the tools of the craft of cognac distillation, the body of the Cognac Pen has been manufactured from real oak wood. This makes reference to ancient local traditions and requirements. According to French law, no liquor may be called cognac unless it has been aged for at least two years in an oak cask, near Cognac. Decorative elements with grapevine motifs on the body of the pen make further reference to noble French liquors.
