The ‘silly’ season is upon us; that time of year when all the Swiss watch companies neatly pack away their loupes and their finger cots and head for the seaside or the lake shore, leaving watch journos short on important new watch content pretty much until September 1.

This temporary lull in proceedings provides us with an opportunity to feature others items that may be of interest to watch collectors. And one of these is pens.

Being resolutely Italian, pen maker Montegrappa has a great affinity for fine food and an enduring admiration for masters of the culinary art.

With this in mind, Montegrappa launches Chef, a limited-edition pen that represents the spirit of the culinary art in a writing instrument.

The Chef Pen stands out because the body simulates a chef’s knife handle, a wood-facsimile resin body punctuated by a row of stainless steel rivets,  while the cap is that of a typical chef’s hat. The snow-white pen also features a perfectly molded chop knife in stainless steel for a signature clip. The fountain pen is fitted with a piston fed 18k gold nib decorated with Montegrappa filigree etching.

This special Chef edition comes complete with a packaging that simulates a plate with the piece placed in the center. Available in fountain pen and roller, the Chef pen is limited to 999 pieces each.

How much?
