Hamilton Khaki

As we reported last month, this year marks a milestone for Hamilton. It’s the brand’s 100th anniversary in aviation and the celebrations continue with the release of the new Khaki Pilot Auto Day-Date collection.

With a century’s worth of experience, Hamilton has skillfully taken their classic aviation look and feel from former collections and given it a fresh contemporary edge. The result, a perfect representation of the American spirit of the brand, enhanced with Swiss precision.

As with all Hamilton watches, functionality is at the core of the design. The new models are powered by H-40 automatic movements featuring day and date complications and extended 80-hour power reserves, meaning they are ready to fly again after a long weekend of downtime.

Moreover, Hamilton ensures legibility during night flights with the new sand-colored Super-LumiNova indexes and Arabic numerals set against the black dial. The hour markers glow neon green in the dark, offering an easy and accurate read.

The dial aesthetics are reminiscent of analog cockpit instruments from vintage aircraft, as can be seen with the readable display and curved day window at 12 o’clock. Conversely, the new color schemes and PVD treatment offer a contemporary take.

Three different versions are presented in this collection, all with 42mm stainless steel casing: dark brown PVD treated stainless-steel case with a brandy brown leather strap, steel case with a desert brown leather strap, and full steel with a metal bracelet.

This new collection also unveils the next generation of Hamilton leather straps. Inspiration has been taken from the leather flying jackets worn by top U.S. military pilots, as demonstrated by the rugged, lived-in look of the straps. Hamilton aimed to achieve an authentic look of leather that has experienced the stresses of life in the cockpit, together with the strains and G-force endured by the pilots. The desert and brown straps complement the brown hues within the case and are scored with stylish hot stamping and the signature ‘H’ buckle.

Water resistant to 100m, these handsome watches are perfect for both pilots and those who just look to the skies.

How much?

The new Khaki Pilot Auto Day-Date from Hamilton will sell at $995.
