Legacy is extremely important for Égard founder Ilan Srulovicz, who formed the watch company in 2012 with the goal of creating unique luxury pieces made to commemorate life’s defining moments. Watches built to stand the test of time, and be passed down across generations. It all started when Srulovicz designed a watch for his father’s 65th birthday. Now, eight years later, the latest chapter in the brand’s legacy is being written thanks to the new Égard Bermuda Series.
Following three successful crowdfunding campaigns, the Bermuda collection was launched on Kickstarter earlier this spring, blowing past its initial funding goal in a mere eight hours. It’s not hard to see why. This elegant new handcrafted dress watch collection features three fully engraved models complete with scratchproof sapphire crystals. The cases, crystals, and dials are all made in-house using the highest quality materials and levels of production, with a finishing and quality that are unprecedented in its price range.
The resulting Bermuda series is a collection of watches that truly embodies the company’s focus on creating unique, one-of-a-kind designs — timepieces that double as conversation pieces. Available at special Kickstarter pricing for only a limited time, the Bermuda series offers your choice of three models:
Water-resistant to 100 meters, each of the 42mm watches in the collection feature intricately and fully laser engraved cases inspired by 16th-century art — with all the engraving done in-house by the Égard team. The Bermuda Masterpiece runs on an STP1-11 Swiss-made automatic movement, which is based on the highly regarded ETA 2824-2 movement with a 44-hour power reserve. Turn the watch over and you’ll see a custom-made rotor with gold inlays through the sapphire crystal exhibition caseback.
Available in your choice of a deep blue or black dial, the Masterpiece is the crown jewel of this new collection.
The boldest, and most eye-catching piece in the series, the Bermuda Skeleton is a definite attention-getter, perfect for anyone looking for a true statement piece. An automatic Seagull TY2809 movement was chosen for the delicately designed skeleton dial, and, as with the Bermuda Masterpiece, there’s a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal top and bottom with an exhibition caseback showing off all the intricacies and inner workings of the watch.
Despite the snobs and the naysayers, there are still a great many watch lovers out there who prefer the affordability, simplicity, and reliability of quartz, which is why Égard wisely included a Swiss quartz option in their new collection. The Bermuda V1 is a high-quality timepiece running on a Swiss-made Ronda 515 Quartz movement, with the same sapphire crystal top, plus an engraved steel caseback. The V1 comes in your choice of a blue or black dial.
All three watch models come with two easily interchangeable straps: the intricately-engraved metal bracelet as well as a high-grade treated rubber strap. Currently available at special Kickstarter pricing, a savings of 30% off the future retail price, the watches should be ready for expected delivery by July 2020.
