We’re having a bit of weather in Britain at the moment. It’s all thanks to Storm Frank. It has come on top of earlier deluges which have left much of the North of England under several feet of muddy brown river water. Yesterday in Tadcaster in just three minutes Storm Frank demolished a bridge that has stood for three hundred years.
Thousands of homes and businesses are flooded, power has been cut, and all we can do in the South is sit watching our TV screens while sipping tea and eating crumpets. Well, it’s what we do in a crisis. That, and keep smiling through. The media keep referring to the floods as ‘unprecedented’ but they are now scrambling for new words as the floods keep coming and are anything but ‘unprecedented.’
While valuable watch collections are no doubt swept away in the floods, a new dive watch had the temerity to launch itself on Monday. It’s the Helfer Geneve Divermaster RG Automatic, a 45mm diver with water resistance to 500 meters, more than enough to manage the floods.
The watch runs on the trusty ETA 2824-2 movement and comes complete with a 12-year warranty. No price mentioned at this time, but the Helfer Diver Automatic Chronograph retails for around US$2,790, so despite the expensive look of the launch presentation, this watch may possibly be within your grasp, bearing in mind that there are only 100 pieces available.
