It was just a little over a year ago that we announced the successful backing of the MAEN Hudson Automatic on Kickstarter, with more than full backing achieved within just 3 minutes.

Now the Dutch/Swedish independent brand is back with a new Kickstarter project; the MAEN Skymaster 38 Automatic Chronograph, due to launch on Kickstarter in September. This is a sneak preview of the prototype.

The brand name MAEN stems from the fact the moon is a symbol of time and an old Dutch name referring to the ‘Halve Maen’, the Dutch ship that changed the course of history by exploring the unknown.

Following a lengthy process of designing and prototyping, MAEN are sufficiently satisfied with the new Skymaster 38 Automatic Chronograph to pitch it to potential backers on Kickstarter.

MAEN specializes in smaller sized watches and loves the challenge of getting a balanced chronograph dial to fit into a smaller diameter watch. This is exactly what we tried to achieve with the Skymaster 38, a balanced, vintage-inspired panda dial chronograph with a sophisticated yet unmistakably masculine appearance.

There are three models to choose from in the new collection including black, blue and a handsome black and burgundy dial.

The 38mm watch features a narrow bezel and vintage styled rehaut. The indicators are brushed with a polished beveled edge, playing with the light in a very interesting way.

The watch will run on the Swiss Made favorite, the ETA 2894-2 Automatic movement and comes complete with a 12 Hour GMT bi-directional bezel to keep track of an additional time zone while traveling.

The watch comes fitted with a smooth Italian leather strap in black, brown or midnight blue shade depending upon the version.

The Skymaster is expected to launch September 1st on Kickstarter.
