Munster, Germany based watch brand MeisterSinger, famous for their single hand timepieces, has been awarded the prestigious iF Design Award for the Lunascope moon phase watch.
The Lunascope is the first MeisterSinger watch to be designed with an astronomical complication. The watch became a talking piece at Baselworld 2018 not only because of its unusually large moon phase display but also for the outstanding precision with which the realistically depicted moon moves across the dial, as the display only needs to be adjusted by one day once every 128 years.
The blue version of the Lunascope turns the entire dial into a night sky, creating a romantic scene, which, however, combines well with the typical, functional MeisterSinger stylistic elements, such as the needle-sharp, instrument-like hand and the sans serif, double-digit hour numerals.
From a total of 6,400 products submitted from 54 countries, the expert jury of the iF Design Award singled out the Lunascope to be honored for excellent modern design.
The win follows on from the success of the Circularis in 2015 and the Adhaesio in 2016.
