Camber Watches is a new startup founded in The Netherlands. Owner and founder Bob Segers is a licensed jeweler with extensive experience in the jewelry and watches business. Like many fans of watches on Watchuseek, Bob has a passion for beautiful and high quality products but at reasonable prices.
Camber Watches are all about fine watch making and vintage motorsport. Developed by Bob in partnership with designer Bart de Keyzer of www.3rd-floor.org, the plan is to create different chapters of this story. The first chapter tells the story of one of the oldest forms of motor sport: The Hill Climb.
Hill Climbing is a branch of Motorsport in which drivers compete against the clock to complete an uphill course. As the drivers climb toward the summit, the thin air slows reflexes and reduces muscle strength. The thin air also robs engines of to 30% of their power. Both competitors and vehicles must be in top shape simply to finish…let alone win!
In hill climbing, every tenth of a second counts; therefore Camber is a series created a with a special chronograph movement which is able to measure time down to one tenth of a second. The dial is inspired by the early mechanical stop watches used at motor sporting events.
To get Camber Watches motoring, Bob has put the concept onto Kickstarter. The offer is a Camber watch together with matching cufflinks in a beautifully designed collector package, all at a special Kickstarter price of only US$98.
The hope is to reach the target and bring the brand to life, therefore Bob, a friend of Ernie’s, would very much appreciate any extra attention paid to his project, and also, if you’re impressed by what you see, to put in an order!
