“Panerai – Dive Into Time” runs from May 18 thru 21. Starting from a Florentine watchmaker’s shop to become one of the most idolized of all luxury sports watches, ‘Dive Into Time’ is an exhibition covering 1,000 square meters detailing the history of Officine Panerai and includes the world preview of a selection of important new models.
The exhibition serves as an invitation to dive into time, to explore the past, the present and the future of the Officine Panerai watchmaking brand. The exhibition is being held in the atmospheric underground crypt of the former Basilica of San Pancrazio, home of the Marino Marini Museum in the center of Florence, Italy.
On display will be a host of previously unseen creations from the various periods of the history of the Florentine brand: the brilliant insights in the field of optics and mechanics and the first instruments made by the Panerai family at the start of the last century; the iconic watches created for the Royal Italian Navy from the 1930s to the 1950s; and a panorama of the models created in the period of almost 20 years in which the Richemont Group has owned it. This is the period in which a watch known only to collectors became one of the most admired of international luxury sports watch brands.
Visitors will also have the chance to discover the exceptional collections of the Marino Marini Museum, consisting of the works given to the City of Florence by the great Italian sculptor, painter and engraver (1901-1980).
