That's funny -I just got one today at Target. At my store in FL they have removed most all the G-Shocks from the counter... Anyway, this seems like a lot of features for the money. I did pause about the Acrylic crystal, but I am not usually that hard on watches... Also funny, this was (to me) a VERY difficult watch to set up!! I still can't get the 4 cities programmed right, I have one and 2 but not 3 or 4.

bump, hey guys just been lurking here for a while, I decided to register to ask question.

it is true the bracelet model are using mineral glass? The Casio web says it. It seems weird that the resin model are not but the bracelet model is.(infact even the 1100,1200 bracelet version are not mineral glass, just this one) Anyone can confirm this is true & not a typo in casio web?

sorry to revive such old thread. But am happy to have bought this watch dirt cheap. The looks is nice and the world map is classic. love the functions. Been having only quartz analog and automatic watch in my collection, lvoe to have this digital watch. If it's at least on WUS forum, Couldn't be a bad watch!

Excellent review, many thanks! It was just added to my collection today, in a very cool situation, and I'm really liking it! Indeed a very cool vintage look and feel.

Acrylic is not all that bad. It certainly add to the vintage look of any watch. It is definitely lighter than a watch with crystal. And it can be polished if necessary.

Really nice review.

This watch has a huge appeal to me, I'm a sucker for nerdy and vintage things....lol....

The 10-year battery and the price of the watch are a steal.
The 10 year battery and the easy legibility of the lcd display is what has drawn me to this particular Casio model.

So my AE-1000W (my AE-1000W-1BVDF-WW to be exact) just arrived from JustCalculators. First, I want to give a strong recommendation to JustCalculators. The watch was only $24 with free shipping, which is a steal. Also, I ordered the watch on Monday at 2am, and it arrived from Los Angeles to Chicago by Wednesday. Pretty darn good for free shipping. :-!

The watch itself is totally geeky. I feel like some super villain wearing it, with the map of the world next to the radar-looking analog time. I feel like I'm controlling a laser that is going to blow up the world! But on a less cheesey note, this watch has one of the simplest and most intuitive modules I have seen on a digital watch with so many features. Every mode follows a logical configuration and you probably won't have to go back to the manual to figure this watch out in the future. I love Casio watches but sometimes the directions are confusing for setting up the features you want to use.

Everything is really simple, from the 4-time zones you can access on the home screen, to the world time, to the 5 alarms, and of course the watch has a countdown timer and stopwatch. What more could you want? Also, the backlight is awesome for a non-EL glow.

For 24 dollars you cannot go wrong with this watch. If I traveled a lot this would definitely be a consideration for a digital watch. Big thumbs up. :-!
This model is very easy to use. I bought the AE1000 in 2016. I like the world time capability and that you can see 2 time zones at the same time in world time zone. You can also set any 4 different time zones and see these 4 different time zones if you keep the search button pressed for 4 seconds. These 4 times zones will cycle through one after the other. You can stop the cycling if you press any button on the watch. Overall, it’s an excellent watch. All of its features are very useful. Especially if one travels to another time zone and wants to know the exact times in multiple countries.
I just purchased a new darker stealth model with the black and dark silver case for $23 and another lighter silver cased one with the blue colored world map for $22 from Amazon. I’m wearing the black one right now and have a picture of it below.
