With car sales, you can typically stroll into a dealership on the last day of the month/quarter/year and get a good deal on a car (dependent on your negotiation skills of course). Is that the same with watches? Can I walk into an AD a few hours before they close on the last day of the month, and score a deal I wouldn't otherwise be offered the first day of the month?

My own experience with cars - boats - even watches is to show up, look at what you are interested in then ask for the bottom line. Carry cash, nothing talks to a seller like cash. I have always done better in cash deals.

Best car deal I had was on Christmas Eve. Salesman wants to make 1 sale and go home early for the day. Hardly no customers at the dealership unlike other shopping places busy with last minute shoppers.

No, not really. What I have found works best is if an offer is not accepted tell them that the offer stands and leave them your card. If the offer was within reason, it's just a matter of time before they call.

Different structure I believe. I am close enough to the car industry to know that their month end bonuses are most of their salary. So if they just need one more sale to hit their bonuses, they offer part of their bonus off of the car as incentive to get you to buy. After all, a slight bonus is better than no bonus even if the customer benefits the most out of it.

So month end is basically what the General Manager is willing to do to make the store targets and what the sales person is willing to do to hit their month end bonus. Usually the combination is quite decent.

Not sure how watch sales are structured but all of my guys tell me they don't get bonuses. I call BS but I don't have any connections there to know for sure. Since they seem to act the same early or late month, I don't think it's quite the same.

If you're at a car dealer, cash won't get you a better deal. They like when you finance because they get kickbacks from the banks. I loved the confused look on people's face when they gave me the nod and said "I'm paying cash" with a raised eyebrow. Then I got to basically say "So?"

But guys, what about watches? Lol. Looks like car talk has completely taken over the thread. Is there really a best time to visit an AD? I had never thought of this before and now I'm really intrigued.

Watchbreath answered the questions with, "The last week of the fiscal month if the store hasn't made goal." If it has made it's goal, good luck.
