I am 36. I owned several mechanical watches as I was 20 up to 25 years old. I often heard somethin like "You are to young to wear such an expensive watch" or "This watch is something for old men". Now at 36, I only have three Gs which I wear. Now I often hear "A plastic watch is somtehing for kids" or "You are to old for this kind of watch".

But I do not care about it, not in the past, not in the present and not in the future. Gs are really great and rough watches I like them and so I wear them. So what? Do and wear what you want and not what other think would be correct for your age.

I'm surprised to see that the majority of us are not young men anymore :p

41 years here and I couldn't care less what others think about my watches. besides I'm convinced that 99% of all those "experts" who making such statements, never even recognize a G as such, if it is an all-analog model like a GW-2000/3000 or one from the Giez line. might be a bit different with a red frog though....;-)

cheers

36 here and i dont think there is an age limit to g shocks. as long as you are enjoying it go for it.

Bottom line, u can wear anything so long as you're able to pull it off!! There are geeky 19 year old's that I don't think even able to look good wearing a 6900!

I'm soon 36 and have had lots of G's since the mid eighties. My father is a regular on WUS and is 62, he has more G's than I do! We also have converted alot of people we work with to G shockers, his group in their 50's to 70's and my group from their 20's to 40's. Never to old to wear a great watch, plastic or not, G's rock!

I have a 58 year old uncle who wears one all the time. I wear one when im working. (30)

so no I don't think your too old but did it look appropriate with your outfit? and what sort of place were you out for dinner? my g is for work and really casual situations.

Of course not. G-shocks are practical watches that anyone can utilize. There is no age limit and that is what makes them so cool. I mean, the Frogman is a divers watch, so it's definitely not made with young people in mind.

HOWEVER, I will say this. A big chunky red frogman in the office or on a date might not be the "appropriate" G. The only reason that it looks childish is because its chunky and red and in your face, and the time of fashion statement it makes is one that younger people might want to make. And even in this case, 30 is not that old at all.

I would wear a nice black 5600 or 6900 at work or on a date, and a red frogman when just doing out door activities or hanging out with freinds, with a nice t shirt in the summer time!

I think the easiest G-shock to dress up would be one of the analog GIEZ watches like the 1300b or a similar model. Sadly, I do not own one yet. These are some of the classiest looking G-shocks. I only wish they had numbers on the face rather than the lines. Would make it much easier to read the time quickly, but would probably take a little bit away from the aesthetics of the watch. The all black version is stunning. It is sleek without looking neutered.

I've seen digital watches in all kinds of environments, though. One of the most successful men I know wears a digital Timex all the time, even when he's wearing $600 shoes and a nicely tailored suit. It doesn't look tacky, because everything else about the outfit is perfect. In fact, it adds flair to what would otherwise be a very standard and boring outfit, and shows that he does not feel the need to impress other people with a Rolex submariner, or some other equally boring and expensive accessory.

Bottom line, wear what you want and wear it well

I'm 55, and find I no longer go for the coloured ones (I used to have a thing about red ones), but can imagine wearing the more sober models until my dying day. It's more to do with personality than age. I can imagine Picasso wearing a G-Shock at 90, but not the Archbishop of Canterbury.

(Even if Picasso had died by the time G-Shocks hit the streets of Spain and France...)
