Walking around Hong Kong, I discovered this watch.
In the center, Beige dial.

Excuse the blurriness of the picture, I dont think the shop keepers are too happy about other people taking pictures of their display windows, so i did it as quick as possible.

It is a Ingersoll Hour Tourbillon, limited edition.

I first thought the watch was just a exposed balanced wheel but after seeing a few of them, I noticed the the position of the balance wheel is different. I believe the face or the entire movement actually rotates.

Pricing was about $700USD or a little more than the PTS tourbillons beside it.

Does anyone have any more information about this movement?

Certainly very interesting. I have been watching similar watches show up on eBay in the USA with different brand names. Seller named Minorva88 in China seems to have many of them. There are links on WUS that might help identify, here for example:

I am continually interested in these for news on good ones, affordable ones, etc. Haven't found the right one yet as most have design quirks that look a bit garish or ostentatious. Beautiful mechanical design though!

It looks like a Shanghai Orbital Tourbillon. I thought they were worth thousands of dollars. Maybe they've figured out how to mass produce them. Or perhaps they've deleted the 1 minute tourbillon and only retained the karrusel part (the slow orbital rotation).

That is correct Martin.

Orbital Dual Tourbillon? Wow, who makes that movement?

How does an orbital movement work? I assume both the hands and winding mechanism are attached only a stationary part of the watch while only the face moves. But then, what about the balance wheel?

Edit
Hmm

Looks like the orbiting part is build on a seperate layer.

It is from Shanghai Watch factory. The "simple" orbital balance wheel movement is often used in Breguet fakes and similar (I have also seen a breguet fake using the dual orbital tourbillon movement on Taobao). I have seen the orbital balance wheel movement on a shanghai branded watch on taobao. I remember that these movements were presented in "Europa Star" a while ago. I assume that the Ingersoll dual tourbillon is just a showpiece which is not actually ment for sale.

Thanks Jenswer. That makes perfect sense. The development of their 'Orbital Tourbillon' (Tourbillon/Karrusel hybrid) offered them a useful by-product that essentially replicates the action of the ETA/Swatch Carousel

It's worth mentioning that, while Bonniksen proved the superiority of the 60 minute Karrusel over Breguet's 60 second Tourbillon, these new Chinese 12 hour karrusel systems (both Shanghai and PTS) offer no functional advantage. Then again it has been proven that all tourbillon-type rotational systems are superfluous in a wristwatch ;-)

This thread came back up in one of my Google searches.
I'm wondering, where can one find one of the Swatch Carousels? Are they still in production? If not, how much was the going price?
I cant seem to find anything more information on this model.
Sorry for the bump.
