The rubber strap option on the u1 puts it at the top. and I think the look with the ladder hands (rare in watchdom) makes it special.
as a everyday wearer the U1 works in all fields. my drinking buddy just bought one and I called him a copy cat :)

Some great answers fellas, and lots for me to consider.
The good thing is that whichever I choose,I get the impression that neither of these would be a disapointment. Its a win win situation!!
At the moment I think Im leaning towards the U1,but theres every chance that may change in the next couple of months - who knows both may find their way into the collection at some stage - the blue dial UTS 2000m looks interesting too!.

Ahh,decisions decisions......

Owned both and regret selling both but if forced to choose, I would go with the U1. Sure it is a pain to keep the AR clean but when clean (and who cares if a little extra work is needed, we are all a bit anal in this affliction)the crystal flat disappears and the U1 hands/dial is one of the nicest out there.

Sinn probably much more wearable and versatile and the hands are just great (AR smudging stinks, and the lume is poor though).... but the UTS is way cooler as a tool watch although not nearly as comfy to wear.

Not sure if you've already made your decision but I'm going to put in another vote for the U1. Owned one a couple months back and only sold it to fund an Omega, but it is an extremely well engineered watch that is rock solid and rugged. Sure the outer AR may require just a tad more work, but it is well worth it. The crown action was one of the smoothest I have used. The u1 looks good on just about any strap and the rubber strap is wicked good. I have seen a few UTS's that I liked, but none as much as the U1

No decision made yet mate - it will take a little while to get the dosh together - plenty of time for me to change my mind over, and over, and over again...
Still, part of the joy of this hobby is the research and decision making process!!

I agree with that!!

Just take your time, run several times through the specs, try it several times on your wrist ( maybe harder to do with these models ) and look at all sorts of photo's including wrist shots!

Enjoy the hunt! :)
