It's the best matte blue currently available, and one of the better blue tones out there, imo. I can't stand a lot of blue dials you often see that have indigo undertones, which the Pelagos has none of. It photos the Pelagos blue can appear overly bright, but in person it's dynamite.

I had a look at the Rolex and Tudor store at BKK duty free. I've never been taken with Rolex as a personal taste thing. I like Tudor a little more but thought it was also not for me. After looking in the Rolex store and not seeing anything that took my fancy I headed to Tudor to see them in the flesh for the first time. It was the same story, though I liked them a little more I though I would rather many other watches before Tudor. Until I saw the Blue Pelagos. I have to say it took my fancy big time. If you are thinking of it then I can say go for it. It's one hell of a nice looking watch.

Nope. On vacation now with lots of blue. Pelagos, Gulf of México, hotel wristband/room key, National Park pass for a reef tour and blue swim trunks!

There are alot of really great responses here. Some are against it. Most are for it. All I can say is this: YOU are the one who is going to wear it. If the blue makes you happy...go for it!! If you're still unsure, maybe play it safe and go for the BBB. Hey, if you change your mind then, all you need to do is raise the money difference and trade the BBB in.

Alright I'm gonna do it - just need to find one for the right price. I thought they could be picked up used around $2500 but it's looking more like $3000. Now the question is to keep the Longines Legened Diver I have or sell that to offset some of the cost.

I'm not sure I'm at the point where I need two divers in my life. I guess I'm just thinking out loud here obviously that decision is up to me haha.

I love the blue but if a watch could be too blue the pelagos is as blue as it gets. I wouldn't want it as my daily wearer but then again I don't want a daily wearer.

Your going to enjoy it. I can tell.

To be honest, at times I do look down at mine and feel like it's too blue. It never bothers me per se, but it is definitely a pronounced blue and you will notice it. It gets a lot more subdued in lower light situations and you don't notice the color as much when you're in a restaurant or in the car at night.

I like it when it's at its bluest and when its most covert...it gives it many different personalities. But if you are sensitive to the blue, you might want to look at the black pelly.

I've photographed mine below all in various stages of being lit by the ambient light.

I've also always been worried it's too much blue for me. I had another blue watch, non-diver but had more like a lighter blue sunburst dial, and I just found I gravitated to my black dialed watches.

I really like it in pictures and I've handled it briefly in a dealer, I'm just not sure I could wear it everyday. it seems like a lot of watch for the money, but for me, it's still a lot of money and I'd be scared spending that much and finding myself not wearing it.

It would be a tough decision for me as well, so I'm glad seems like people who own it don't have an issue, but I feel like it would be something that would be strictly personal preference. Maybe I'd consider trying out a Squale 50 atmos or something first, then "upgrade" to the Tudor down the road.

Its a bit too blue and cartoony blue. Makes your not cheap watch look very cheap.

The BBB has the apposite issue. The blue isnt blue enough. Grrrr.

The perfect blue to me is the WG sub... tge only issue with that watch is... costs as much as a small car.

I love the blue actually. I think the idea of the pelago was to inject some modernism into the design to satisfy some customer that likes the modern touch. Sure, a traditionalist will probably think the colour is too "toy" like but I think it looks great and adds some youth to the design.

No, I can't imagine it would be much of an issue. It's tough to say from pictures, because the watch really comes alive in person. When the Pelagos came out, I was in love with it; when the blue came out, it sort of killed the black for me.

The only thing I would think is that you may grow tired of how "tool-ish" the watch is. It's much more Rolex DeepSea than Submariner (which is more the Black Bay), and despite being only 42mm, it does wear rather large for its size.

If it's your only watch, you may grow tired of the blue and the toolishness day in and day out--but only so far as you would grow tired of wearing anything colorful everyday. But that's me; my wardrobe basically consists of three colors--blue, gray, and black.
