I looked through 3 pages of threads, then searched in various forums and couldn't find any discussion about this.

Does anyone have any thoughts on these monthly watch clubs like Watch Gang, where you pay $29 monthly then get a watch a month of indiscriminate make and model? With Watch Gang, apparently one lucky club member gets sent a Rolex. Anyone a member and care to report their results? Satisfaction?

I think F71 (affordable forum) has a thread on this. The Rolexes people get are frankens or vintage ones. The watches seem to vary - but are likely quartz or fashion or whatever that is priced close to $29 anyway. The challenge is that you don't know what you get - so someone w 6.25" wrist can get a huge fashion watch, or someone into divers can get a dress watch. Makes 0 sense to me, but thread had 1 members experience.

On the higher end side of things - Eleven James allows watch rental with some luxury timepieces. There you can choose which watch to rent. But idea of paying huge fees for temporary watch wear does not appeal to me.

Ive been a member for 3 months. Got a beautiful BOLDR nighthawk (99$ subscription) worth over 200 anywhere else. Also got a great citizen Eco-drive Super Titanium for 99$ subscription, worth over 160 on ebay.

IDk what the hell these other people are thinking. This is an unbelievably great way to collect watches. They actually care about making their customers happy. My 29$ subscription has gotten me a great diver from Buech & Boilat.

ALSO, they just started a 300$ subscription last month and the first watches were Deep Blue's worth over 500$, West End Watch Co., which are absolutely beautiful, and Aragorns worth over 1,000$.

The "Watch Gang Exchange" Facebook page has to be the best part however. Over ten thousand people in it and constantly selling/trading/auctioning watches. If you get a watch in the subscription that you don't like??? Just TRADE it with someone else. Great moderators and overall excellent service.

Better to just save your money up each month to get a nice watch.

Lol.

All those great deals referenced earlier can be found on the sales forum, sometimes for an even lower price.

Instead of sending your time on a FB group trying to horse trade a watch you don't like, just get watch recon and buy something you actually want.

So I decided to try their new Platinum service for 3 months. Worst case I'll have gifts to give to my cousins and nephews. They select a member for a Tag every Tuesday and a Rolex every Friday. The Rolexes are typically vintage Datejusts or AirKings but the founder of the company actually said recently they have also done a Sub, a GMT and a Yacht Master (obviously this isn't the norm). There are a couple of guys who posted YouTube videos of the Datejusts they got (both 60s and 70s models).
The watches may not be up to the standard of a lot of people in this community, but a lot really like them. It's also a nice way to get people into this hobby of ours and it's nice they offer three level options for differing budgets.
I'm optimistic this will be a good experience but I'll report back after my first month.

Ah no. I wouldn't want to do business with a dodgy outfit that does stealth advertising. It would make them more credible if they stopped shilling. Why would I want a mystery piece of crap watch each month? Might as well walk ouside and throw the money into the street.

It seems their f71 shilling campaign hasn't gone as well as hoped. :)

hang on. Now it's coming back to me. Was this the operation that outsources everything? Via a gift service outsourcing web site? As in they are not actually a real business? Please assuage my fears.

''An unbelievably great way to collect watches'', no offence to you but this is anything but a great way to collect watches.
You are giving your hard earned to a middle man who takes a large cut of your money to give you generally a low end watch hes bought on the cheap, and its not really what you want because you havnt chosen it.
Any of the watches you are getting have huge inflated RRP and its crazy to consider them as great deals imo when you could get better deals online on better watches and ones you like.
No offence but it sounds like a sales pitch from you above lol, each to their own though, as long as people have a bit of fun thats what its about i suppose.
cheers

Exactly! that's why I called him out on it too. Shady BS sales tactics. They don't need to insult our intelligence with these threads, we won't fall for your amazing testimony about a great new way to collect watches. Start posting for real and start buying and selling here if you want an actual good deal!

Hi everyone. I'm Matthew, the owner of Watch Gang. I'm not here to sell, I just thought I'd jump in and defend some of these claims. We have never asked anyone to write about us in your forum nor have we paid people for reviews or had our employees pretend to be customers. We are not a "dodgy outfit" and have never practiced any of these types of advertising. I stand in front of every decision we make and I'm happy to discuss any questions you have in an open forum like this.

But isn't that what we all do already when we flip watches? :)

I am a member. My son paid for a years subscription for Him and I. The first 4 $29 subs were OK. The best one was a SO&CO and not a bad watch, as the other three made gifts. The first month of black sub my son got an Air Blue Papa Praesto that is about $250 on Ebay he didn't like it and gave it to me and I really likeiy. I switched to black and got an Original Grain (part wood) and not a bad watch. They just started a Diamond sub for $499 I think. One watch I got they sent me two of them, and when I asked where to send the extra back to, they said were are sorry keep them both and sent me another brand for mu trouble. I think they are here to stay, and the Watch Gang Exchange is great, lot of good info and I have traded 10 or 12 watches. Is is a good way to see what you like. I think WG is a great way to get into watches and enjoy them. This is not a sales pitch and I don't care if you folks think so. Go to the Watch Gang Exchange page on FB and see for yourselves. Matt introduced himself to you here and some have spoke on WG and in no negative way as some of you have.
