Bremont boutique is a pleasant place to visit and probably the only uniquely "British" watch experience outside of a trip of up to 1 hour to C Ward in Maidenhead for new retail watches. Others have called out traditional vintage spots like Burlington Arcade and Hatton Garden.

I think if you're looking for good value, or even good vintage watches, the bricks and mortar retailers in London are not the place to go.

You're typically looking at things being sold at over twice what you could find them for on forums, on eBay, or through private sellers on instagram - and often the items on sale are tailored to the "oh man I want something old but I want it super shiny, please polish it for me" level of taste.

If you wanted to spend a morning or afternoon looking at brand new stuff, and then some really overpriced vintage, and then a mega store of all the modern shinies, the Bond street boutiques (Omega, Breguet, JLC, Vacheron, Patek, Breitling, Rolex... I'm sure there are more I'm missing) followed by Burlington arcade, and then Watches of Switzerland on Regents street would be a good shout... and keep you in a fairly self contained area.

If you want a bit more of a horology/culture hit, the Clockmaking exhibition at the Science Museum is fun, as is the Royal Observatory at Greenwich.

Enjoy your trip. :)

Skip Big Ben. Currently in for service :)

lol

Why not spent your time in London concentrating on the amazing cultural things it has to offer instead of watches?
Check out Westminster abbey and its thousand year old tombs, parliament and Buckinghamshire palace.
Exchange rate may make it a good place to buy watches, new, bonds street; used, watchfinder.
Enjoy, buy me a pint if your passing.

Burlington Arcade and Selfridges are my goto's. Wempe on Bond St. is great too (they carry the holy trinity plus AL&S plus GO, which Selfridges does not).

The massive Watches of Switzerland on Regent St. carries a ton of brands but is a bit uninviting in terms of browsing; a lot of the good stuff is sectioned off in boutique booths.

FYI The Wonder Room in Selfridges is great but they hide their NOMOS watches on the ground floor with the fashion brands.

Have fun :)

I'm speechless (textless? Lol) where did you see that display?
Ha ha there's a load of shops just like it as you walk up the arcade, several million quids worth of Rolex. I mentioned the Omega specialist, that's definitely worth a further mention. When I was there last they had a marvellous vintage 'Tin-Tin' Speedy.

I may need to book a trip "across the pond"

This.

I think it's a worthwhile experience to visit and see the GMT-line. You can stand one foot on the western hemisphere and the other on eastern.

Sent from Maxwell Smart's shoe.

So...both feet on the western side then?

That's Somlo - interesting to look, but man alive the prices are something else.

Yes but there are only three in Birmingham: a Timex (runs slowly), an Invicta (surprisingly accurate) and a vintage Poljot left as a deposit on a three-course meal by a Latvian trawlerman in 1986. All of these watches are shared by the population of England's Second City, and they get grouchy about it.
Which is a fair and accurate summation of the horological status of said city, yo.

Cheers,

Alan
