I just sized my bracelet the other day and it was also a PITA to get the screws out. Luckily I had 3 to choose from and only needed to undo two because one was so stuck I couldn't get it. The others came out eventually. I did not have a 1.8 though I used a 2.0 and felt it was just a bit on the large size, but it worked well enough for me to change them. Knowing this now though I'll probably pick up a 1.8 just in case I need to make future changes.

i had a similar issue but with the AT, was able to get half of the screws out but was not having any luck with the others. i took it to the omega boutique, and they mentioned to try applying some heat to the screws (like using a blow dryer), to melt the glue. i probably annoyed them, but they were helpful -- when they handed it back to me, they said they applied heat to the screws and i could feel the warmth

Wow, I guess I'll be going to a jeweler to have it sized when I take the plunge on a Speedy.

I've been looking for a sturdy watch screwdriver... is this one tough enough that it doesn't twist with tight screws? I've twisted a few screwdriver when watch companies seem to glue their links in there.

Cool, thanks! I'll check those out. It sucks when the head of the screwdriver gets twisted so hopefully these won't.

Yup I had a cheapo watch makers kit and used crappy screwdrivers for a while. Finally bought a good set and HUGE difference in quality and strength. I have a new speedy too. I got my screws out with them. They were tight though.

Had to go to a jeweler today after bending the head of a screwdriver. They did it in five minutes and the. Talked about the bassackwards design of the bracelet.

Sized and never touching the screws again.

No issues here. I made due with a $2 dark tipped screwdriver filed down to a wedge fit with the screw head slot and the missus' blow dryer to loosen things up prior.

I much prefer the pin and collar system as its simple and works fine enough, but many folks seem grossed out to see them on mid-tier watches and then complain they can't undo their screws without going into the store. Admittedly the screw/axle system results in less bracelet side-to-side flex, so there is that.

I tried to resize mine today (brand new wear the watch on a strap) and no luck. I had an inch screwdriver that was somewhere between 2.0 and 1.8 mm apparently because I have a 1.4mm and it way to small. I soaked the bracelet in how water for 10 minutes. Guess I will try a jeweler tomorrow.

BTW I just saw this today and when I got the 300M diver seamaster, I did try to remove a link or two. What I noticed is that both sides of the pins had a flat slot but I don't believe you can turn both sides. I was applying pressure on one side and nothing was happening so I went to the other side and it came out rather easy.

Im not sure if the 300M diver has the same pins as the speedy but if it really is hard to turn, maybe you need to try the other side.

I tried both sides. Having a false head on one side doesn't seem like that great of an idea.

I had this issue with my new model Speedmaster as well - I tried everything. Once I ordered the correct size screwdriver the screws actually came off extremely easy.

Just want to commiserate. My wonderful wife and mother surprised me with the Speedy Pro for my birthday.

I absolutely CANNOT get the screws out even with a 1.8mm screwdriver. It’s really, really frustrating. Never met a bracelet I couldn’t size in the, probably over a hundred watches I’ve owned over the years. And there have been some real challenging ones, but I was always able to finally conquer.

Not so with the Speedy, four hours later and all I have to show for my time are blisters and a puncture wound on my thumb from the tiny screwdriver. o|

I feel your pain. I too have mangled a few screws on Omega bracelets. I’ve had other brands with screw bracelet links and none have been as difficult as the Omega bracelets. I’d rather them go back to the push pins if they’re going to lock them down so tight. Fortunately it’s usually a one time deal. I did take my last one to a jeweler and he did just fine. Definitely a PITA though.
