Hi guys,

I am currently an owner of a couple Seiko's and am looking for my next purchase. My absolute dream watch is a Heuer Autavia 2446 (see pic for reference) but these are a way outside my budget at the moment being at least £7k

I am therefore looking for a similarly styled chrono black dial watch. Hoping to get something roughly in the 38-42mm range and with an automatic movement. All this without spending thousands.

So please let me know your suggestions for watches that pay homage to or are similar in style to the Autavia for a reasonable budget. Hoping to spend less than £500 on new or used.

Thanks in advance,

Jack

I say Dan Henry as well.

Nezumi Corbeau if you can deal with a mechaquartz.

Automatic mechanical chrono at this price point will either be used or powered by a movement of questionable quality.
My guess would be a ST19 Seagull movement and yes it's hit or miss.

I think the Sea-gull is the only auto-chrono that could possibly be in that range, and the automatic versions are known to be problematic even if the company installing the movements into cases has good QC. The hand-crankers tend to show issues early, so good QC can weed out the bad ones before they get to customers.

Thanks for all these great suggestions guys.

As for the Dan Henry suggestions, I am really looking for an automatic if I'm honest, had enough of quartz watches for a while

I notice that most of these are new suggestions, does anyone perhaps have any used market watches that could fit the automatic, Autavia style watch?

Hamilton Intra-Matic chrono is much cheaper than the Autavia, but still far above your budget, even used.
Tissot V8 could be available for GBP500, but doesn't really look like the Autavia and is 45mm big.
The same is true for the Revue Thommen Diver Professional.

Edit: the question remains if you'd consider hand wound movements like the Seagull ST19 or Poljot P3133, or if you're dead set on automatics. Here is another hand wound suggestion, the Poljot Pilot Civil.

Are you considering other vintage options? There was an Avia (with the Landeron 149 movement) reverse panda (pictured below) that was for sale on WUS recently but I believe it sold. Many of the watches of the Autavia time period would share movements between lesser-known brands. Some research might give you some more affordable (I think the Avia was 500 euros).
