I'm a little perplexed by the flaming responses as well. None the less, I have a Helson Bronze SD that was just above the recall #. I guess I won't say "for sure" as to not agitate anyone on here. However, "I assume" that it is CuSn8 and the egg treatemnt had no affect on mine. Time and a few dips in the ocean have worked pretty well to this point though.

O my watch list is not updated. I have since grown tired of these boutique divers cause I was constantly flipping them. I canceled that order for the Remora II after I realized I would just grown tired of it within a month and flip it again. Honestly, Peter and Ralph are just the face for a company. Peter said that the Remora II was gonna be ready about half a year before it was actually ready to ship. I don't think my trust or distrust of them has anything to do with whether or not the watches are what they say they are because they are not involved at all in the production of the watches. They just place an order and get cases, I doubt they performed any tests of the metal, so take that for what it is.

In comparison, they actually did take an atomic spectrometer to a Sinn U1 and it identified the metal as being steel utilized in submersibles.
WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! This place is full of misinformation.

I surely do run my own company and it is a lot of work. Ralf is not my face man, Peter is not my face man, and our new bronze is spectrometer tested CuSn8. Peter has nothing to do with a Remora II and I don't recall our Remora II being late. I posted drawings 6 months before the watches were ready, when the drawings were posted we had not even cut metal for cases and that was made clear at the time. We still do this to show people what we are working on for the future.

You should not post things that you do not know about or understand.

Good post, Steve. But really, my Moray looks sweet today, doesn't it? It's all about me, man ;-)
yes it does, I have had mine turn all the way black in patina gel and then brought it back to semi-shiny. it is a living metal and changes all the time. I have mine this week in a salt water swimming pool and near 100 degree weather, so it is really changing. you can remove uneven spots with baking soda, water, and rubbing with your fingers.

^^^ boner achieved.

Those are beautiful.

Wow....A person is asking for specific help and ppl chime in with stupid comments.....Where is the WUS camaraderie folks!!!!!

92,

The egg will work but it will take time. Like others have said get the liver of sulphur and use that...Again you may need several treatments depending on the ratio of water to LOS you use.

Also make sure you wash your case with soap thoroughly to remove oils/grease left from your hand. Use gloves...That way the LOS interacts with the entire case or else you will have patina splotches and will not look uniform. As Steve mentioned you can use baking soda to make it more even....Over time the patina will be more uniform all over the case. some parts of the case will react quicker and I'm guessing it is due to the nature of the bronze alloy. You will also notice the lower portion of the case (between your wrist and below the crown) will react quicker than the top portion, presumably due to the sweat and the ph value (acidity) of your skin.

If you do a search on this forum you will see several "how to" posts...I also posted a few. I have been wearing my new Bronze for almost a week and it has gotten a little dull which is nice so give it time.

Good luck and have fun.

@92D, looks like a good start. I would also recommend the liver of sulfur treatment as well. That's what I used on my Magrette to take the shine off of it.
I wouldn't worry about everyone telling you to let it patina on its own. Do what you prefer. |>

I have used liver of sulphur and sulphur gel refinishing putters. Both would work for what you are trying to do. with enough treatments you can almost get bronze to be black.
