In the TV show "Revenge" there's a watch. Watchesinmovies (a pretty awesome website, BTW) says it's a Rolex Submariner. but something doesn't seem right about it so a bit of googling and I found a pic of the face of the watch. I don't watch the show, so I don't know, maybe there's some backstory to this watch and why it has no branding, but that looks to be just some random sterile dial Sub homage. It seems just generally accepted online that it's a Rolex, even though it has a sterile dial. Anyone know about this? Here's a pic (note, it's also missing the nine o'clock maker?)

Yeh i think its supposed to be a Rolex in the context of the scene....her dads watch or whatever and there are hundreds of submariner homages out there so its easier to just identify it as a Rolex submariner.

I don't know that they would have to do that. Tom Selleck wears his personal Pepsi GMT in the Jesse Stone movies and I feel quite sure they didn't pay Rolex for the privilege of showing the watch.

You dont always have to pay. Sometimes watch companies will donate a watch for use or they simply allow you to use one of their brand provided you ask. Since the watch in Revenge doesnt appear past one scene the production department or whichever department is responsible probably just thought it would be cheaper and less hassle to use a generic Rolex look alike....after all who is sad enough to notice its not a Rolex? ;-)
