Diver or chronograph - which would you choose if you could only have one?

My vote is on the Diver. I find chronos to be a little too busy, and I never have used the timing functions on the one I own.
Chronos CAN be busy (like most Brentlings). But they can also be quite the opposite

The only Chronographs I like are heritage ones and they aren't particularly robust for day to day use.
Two register with no Tachymeter is how I enjoy them and finding a modern one with a non-module movement (for a thin case profile) is next to impossible for a reasonable price. Patek 5170 is the only option that comes to my mind.
There are many Chronographs available today but almost all of them fall short in some way or another.
The Daytona with its screw down pushers is an appalling design, IMO.

Divers on the other hand are simple, they just work and the genre is refined to perfection.

I think "divers" are a way over collected watch style. I've seen people with their entire collection being 25 divers (which mostly looked the same).

The Speedy Pro is a vastly better choice in my opinion. It can be dressed up/down, strap changes totally change the looks, and the history is second to none. The chrono complication comes in super handy for me (I use it every day).

I can't pick between them as I have a Sub and a Speedmaster Pro Moon. A good diver is probably the best choice for an all-around watch that can take some abuse. There are chronos in that same category but a Speedmaster Hesalite, probably, isn't it. I rarely use the chrono functions on mine but it is the classic chrono IMO and is very readable.

Someone said they never used the chrono complication, but use the diver bezel all the time. Huh? Seems like a contradiction--they both do the same thing. I use the chrono complication daily when I wear the chrono, and I use the diver bezel for the same purposes when I'm wearing the diver. Different approach, but same result: how long has it been since ....

I have a number of chronographs - but when all is said n done, I never use the chrono function and the older I get n weaker my eyes, the more I want clean n crisp dial

Disappointed here with all the divers not using their watch + dive tables. Dive computer? Seriously? What, next you're going to tell me airline pilots aren't using dead reckoning anymore.
I only know 2 people who actually dive and they use dive computers.

The Speedy is a great iconic Omega classic, but seems more like a collector's watch due to the low WR, durability and more complicated chrono movement. To me the Seiko wins, they revived their dive classics from the '60's and '70's, but made them 21st century modern and really nice "day to day" wearers at a reasonable price.
I love my Seiko MM20. It's a lot of watch for about $1000!
