If you can find a used one, a Sarb035 might just fit for your $300 Euro budget. Ive owned the Sarb033 (black) the 35 (which can be had at a slight discount compared to its black dialed counterparts), and even the original model, the SCVS003.

€300 in the Netherlands for a new watch...I know this dilemma

Probs best to look at:

-AliExpress: Sea-Gull, San Martin
-German brands. Laco Aachen €340. Sternglas Naos €200. Junkers Bauhaus Quartz €200.
-Japanese: Orient Kamasu €200. Seiko 5.
-Microbrands...? (I would avoid overseas i.e. USA microbrands due to shipping + taxes)

This is a huge bargain:

Not sure what you're into specifically, but I would look to maybe diversify your collection by adding maybe either a pilot watch or a field watch.

For pilot, the Laco suggested above looks great.

For field, maybe the Hamilton Khaki Field King Quartz?

Or, if you don't mind the used market, I found this listing on Ebay from a guy in the Netherlands for a Khaki Field Mechanical. Obviously, do your homework, but he says he only wore it once and is selling because it just isn't his type of watch.

Good luck!

I'd go with a Seagull 1963 variant (the ST1901 movement is based on the Venus 175 and built with Swiss tooling) or 2-3 Soviet vintage. $100-150 will get you a vintage Vostok Precision, the only chronometer ever made in the USSR and based on the Zenith Calibre 135 movement (which they improved). Another $100-150 for a Poljot with mechanical alarm complication. Then $60 or so on a Luch 3055 - a Soviet electro-mechanical quartz with a smooth second sweep that was obsolete pretty much as soon as it came out.

Nodus does a great job at that price. Dan Henry if you don’t mind the quartz.

Perhaps the
  • Seiko-5 SNKL41 for 150-200 euros.
  • Get a nice (custom) leather strap for 50-100 euros. I am thinking a black or burgundy color.
  • Get a decent deployant clasp for 50 euros.
  • Alternatively get a nice Staib Milanese bracelet for 150 euros.
You end up with something like this

Could not find the exact watch on mesh, but a similar Seiko 5 (SNKL23) for an impression (this one is no longer readily available)

You might question whether it makes sense to spend as much on the bracelet as on the watch. But for me, as an overall package, it really elevates it.
This looks awesome. It also give me the idea of asking a 300e watch and add strap and buckle myself..

But i may stick with your suggestion!i
