So I just ordered the G9000-3V which I believe has a negative display. I searched the forum and found lots of threads stating the benefits and and negatives about the negative display but none explains what they are. Thanks for the help.
Interesting feedback, I think this is the first negative feedback I've seen about the GBX. I only own squares - love em - but have thought about getting the GBX numerous times because of the MIP display and because I also felt it would have enough 'square DNA', as you so eloquently put it. Now I'm not so sure. [emoji848]The display is incredible, but I just don't love the watch. It has a really comfortable, soft strap (best G Shock strap for the money, hands down) with tons of holes for adjustment, tons of cool functionality, BT (if that is your thing), etc., etc...but I never find myself wanting to wear it. I guess I'm a square dude, but still this has enough of that DNA I thought I would like it more. Hopefully someday the MIP display finds its way into a 5600 body.
Fully agree on the GD350. I don't think any solar G-Shock has a good negative display. I sold my Rangeman as it just couldn't compete with my GD350.Among standard, inexpensive Gs (without the MIP display), the GD-350-1B has the best negative display I've seen.
You might not believe it, but I've got a few Gs with negative displays that are far worse than the G-9000-3V, for example the GX-56BB-1. I'd say the G-9000-3V is about average for a G negative display.
Here's my GD-350-1B next to my GW-9400-1. I find the GD-350-1B nearly as readable in marginal light as my positive display GD-350-1C.
