Hello comrades

I have been lucky to get my last Russian purchase after just 22 days, so it looks like the post is coming back to some sense of normality.

I was in love with the original Komandirskie models from the Soviet era. I really liked this model from the 1970s (picture from comrade Mr Dashiell Oatman) but I was unable to find a well preserved model at a reasonable price.

Vostok has been successfully releasing limited editions of models based in its large catalogue from the K-43 to the classica series. The most successful was the Amphibian 1967. Following this trend , the 1965 series was produced, based on models from the 60s and 70s. It was in 1965 when the Komandirskie brand was created to provide watches to the military. The watches were sold in special military stores and were not available for the civilian market. They had the message "by order of the USSR ministry of Defence" instead of the usual "made in USSR".
Despite all this, given the size of the Soviet armed forces the watches had a wide distribution and became quite common.
This particular model has a classic round golden case instead of the squared case from the 70s. Otherwise it is a faithful recreation of the original.
This is the box where it came from:

The dial is very beautiful with the striking constructivist numbers, the red star of the Red Army and the red seconds hand.

The date window is interesting as it is also in red.
The case back is transparent, allowing a good view of the mechanical Vostok 2414
calibre.

The watch has 30m of water resistance. The crown is unsigned.

The leatherstrap provided has a reddish brown hue and has white stitching. The clasp has the star and the year 1965

The watch has a very adequate size for most wrists. 39 mm diameter, 46 mm lug to lug and 11 mm thick. The domed acrylic Crystal is also faithful to the original model.

I am quite happy with the purchase. This watch is some kind of hybrid between dress and field styles, but has a clear personality, a very Soviet appearance and a brilliant color scheme.

I hope that we will have a long and lasting friendship.
Best wishes and thank you for your time.

I like everything about that watch....congrats

I have had my eye on the Komandirskie 1965 models for almost a year, but they have been perpetually out of stock at Meranom, Komandirskie.com and elsewhere... until now! I noticed that online.vostokinc.com has the 683954 model discussed in this thread in stock, as well as the stainless steel case/black dial 680853 model. I think that the gold case/sunburst red dial of the 683954 model is stunning and I've been after a red-dialled watch for a long time. I've now got one on order. Just thought I would share this information if anyone else has been waiting on this model for a while... Купить часы 68 корпус по низкой цене
Komandirskie.com also has these two models in stock, but at a significantly higher price.

I really liked your review of this beautiful watch. I just received mine now and it came in the same box and is exactly as you described it so nicely. I have few other Vostok watches, and even though l will probably not wear this watch as often as the others, l have to say that this is watch is probably the most beautiful one.

It is a beautiful watch, but you are right about the price. This watch seams to have the same 2414A movement as the cheapest Komandirskie watches, but the price doesnt reflect that, but........ there is another but. l have no clue how Vostok can manufacture a watch that cheap, when a plummer in my country gets paid 100$ an hour 😀

Two reasons. First, wages are very low in Russia. Same reason Chinese watches are cheap, while still being pretty well made. Second, these movements were invented decades ago and have not been changed in recent years; so there's no R&D expenses. Just labor and materials, neither of which are expensive.
