I have the Casio Royale in both resin and metal. They are really cool watches, so much fun to wear. And the cheapest way to pretend you are James Bond - lol. I prefer the metal version but if I were going to be a world traveler, I'd wear the plastic one. Certainly will not attract the wrong kind of attention. It is the most inexpensive world timer one can buy and would be great if frequently changing time zones. Plus it is so cheap that if you lose it, no big deal.
Sadly, the head of the “metal” version is not actually metal. There’s a guy on Instagram who 3D prints metal cases for these. I’ve toyed with the idea...

The reason for me is the same reason I like some cheap and kei cars. Anyone can engineer and build something amazing with an infinite budget. But to build something great on no budget and be able to make a profit despite it selling for cheap? That's real engineering.

It's currently $12 on Amazon....you can't even go and get its battery changed at that price at a jeweler. The ultimate throwaway beater!
Haha true. It is cheaper to get a new one when it dies

When I first got into watches I thought I should get one (making me a sheep I guess). Turns out it really didn’t sit well on my wrist (strap seems to outweigh the watch causing the watch to move). Put it on a small nato and the watch became more wearable. Now I wear it for bike rides and yard work.

But here’s the kicker. Mine is accurate. Ridiculously accurate. Meaning 2 or 3 seconds a year. So now it is used primarily to let me know the time when I set my other watches.

I had one kicking around, and gave it to my partner's cousin, I think he was 8-9 or so? Kid was playing a console game, also had a tablet, and spent a few moments on a PC. Tech savvy. Gave him the watch... and he absolutely loved it. Thought it was amazing.

So there's that.

It's also a watch with an amazing array of complications and an in-house movement.

Some guy over on the dive watch forum took one diving for kicks, and it easily survived rec diving depths and duration. And even if it didn't... oh, well.

I don't even think it's as much fascination as respect, perhaps grudging, for solid tech that's stood the test of time, still for cheap.

I had one when they were first made. I look back on it and wish I'd bought a Rolex and not a quartz marvel. I'd never want another one.

“According to the document, owning an F-91W was the biggest giveaway of a serious terror suspect alongside ownership of a satellite phone, a radio transceiver, or large quantities of cash.” 😂

Hype and sheep following the crowd imo.
I wish all could be as unique as you believe you are. What a way to antagonise people, so unnecessary and uncalled for.

I lived that era and I'm not inclined to go back. Not my thing at all. Giving off the nerd vibe is not something I want to project.
I'm ok with the first bit. The nerd vibe on the other hand, well, don't worry, 99.9% of people couldn't care less about what watch one is wearing, so there's that.

It's way too small. On the other hand, you can never be too cheap.

Notice how the pictures shown are real close-ups to make it look like it's a normal sized watch? It's not. Did I mention that it's way too small?
I'm already fascinated by some people complaining about watches being "too" small. Say too small for you, because wrists come in a wide variety of sizes. Also, some people, like me, like to wear small watches, and I can pull off 42mm just fine.

The fascination comes from the fact that it's a marvel of technology. We're used to this now, but still, for the price, you get a watch that's more accurate than any insert your favourite mechanical watch brand, has alarm, backlight, chronograph, and it's somewhat shock and water resistant. I mean... Come on.

I prefer the A168 like other user who uploaded a photo of his, but it's basically the same watch, just a bit better looking in my opinion.

Yes, we know. It’s a “backup” watch you dummy.
