I woke up around 6am in the 26th to see if I could pick up a plastic speedmaster clone. I love the idea of what Omega is doing within its parent company, especially the Tiffany Mission to Uranus!

So shocked to find a overnight queue at Covent Garden Swatch store and that they closed after 30mins.

It wasn’t even promoters much and only on discarded watch media.

Maybe because an article was on hypebeast, the flipper caught on. It’s not a limited model and I can tell the majority of people there didn’t even know what the speedmaster moon watch professional was. I made comments such would your perfect a quartz over manual whine on the 1861 with blank face responses.

The problem is that people are actually buying on ebay at 3-4 times over the value …feeding these flippers!

Anyway, they will be online soon and the bots are going to be out in full force. What I will be looking forward to is the production power of swatch. This isn’t a PS5 with chips and PCB, but a plastic mold and simple mechanical parts and battery. Plus Swatch group owns ETA, so happy for the bots to buy as much as they can when resupply will just keep coming in store and online.

Thought I’ll share this to show potentially, the QC may need some work. I will pick it up, but will stick with my Sistem51 for now for sure.

Thanks for sharing. Hope those who were fortunate to pick up a moonwatch could likewise share their thoughts and experience.

I think it's best if you look at it as a gimmick and a collector's item. I really like the collaboration and the fact that it's a fun and inexpensive taste of the speedy. I will definately be getting one once the hype has settled and more are available. The leaking paint does sound troublesome, though. As for the scratches, one should return it then.

Hard to tell from that picture but the blue has not come from the planet. There is a void on his wrist where the planet/battery cover would be so the colour is from the bioceramic. You can see clearly in this mother ship article (I don't have FB)

The unboxing vids I have seen show a protective clear plastic sticker over the crystal so it would be very bad if there were scratches underneath that. Perhaps scratches are on the sticker?

Must say, I did not come here to defend Swatch (although I intend to buy one eventually at MSRP) but I would not be surprised by some colour transfer on a very hot day or while wearing sun screen... you know, it's a toy watch :D

Well spotted. The planet should be a print out (nasa pic) so the leak is this new matrial of bioceramic (normaly swatch plastic don't do that for sure). Imagine the red one! Still sticking to sistem51, no colour leakage at least.

Thanks for sharing this @ProdigalGil - it's quite alarming if this is true, that the dye leeches onto the skin. It could be the compound is not stable. On a more serious note, I wonder if the dye or chemicals touching the skin is potentially carcinogenic???

This might turn into the greatest PR nightmare on quality of the material or worse, a class action law suit if found to be carcinogenic.

Always good to take a step back and assess the situation given how some people are reporting staining on their skins.

I’ve been trawling though social meeja all weekend and that photo is the only one I’ve seen showing that problem, so it might not be a serious issue.
Or that person may be the only one to actually wear the watch and not flip it on eBay…

Perhaps Omega can do a levarge on the potential PR nightmare

Perhaps Omega can turn around the potential PR nightmare buy promoting that you should consider saving up for a titanium hypoallergenic speedy with a proper iridescent blue a proper ceramic bezel (no bio cermaic)!

The only person not flipping it and weraing it at a party in warm weather. I want to see the Tiffany colour leak of Uranus.

I’ve been wearing my MoonSwatch almost nonstop since buying it on Saturday morning and haven’t had any sort of issues. Neither have any of my friends.

I suspect the “dye leak” photo is a fake posted by someone who wanted to go viral; we’ll see if there are any other complaints but I doubt it. This thing exceeded my expectations (except for the strap).

Grey dial looks pretty sick. Perhaps dark colours don’t leak. Test it properly in a Sauna 🧖‍♂️!

Thanks! My partner bought the Jupiter version and she has also been fine. Time will tell the experience of others.

And LOL, with 30m WR this thing is really more delicate than my Speedy Pro! But with all the MoonSwatch threads recently, it has been too long since we’ve had a proper hot water/gaskets/screw down crown/WR debate…;)

As someone who actually got one, this is exactly correct. There is a clear plastic sticker over the crystal, this rubs against the top of the box it comes in (entire point of the sticker), my sticker was scuffed up a bit. Peeled off the sticker, the actual crystal is 100% perfect. (I kept my sticker in the box, I can even take pictures of this later if anyone can't understand.)

As far as the paint/dye leak - I'm not sure yet. Here's what I can say - if anything is bleeding, it's the battery cover, not the bioceramic. Swatch has been using bioceramic for a year or two already in dozens of other models, and have never had to address any kind color bleed problem before.

This is, however, the first time I think they've printed a graphic on the battery cover. I don't know what process they use, but it's entirely possible they didn't have time to test the durability of the print held tight on skin, usually it's on top of the case. Even my Swatches with full case graphics have a clean backside, so I was wondering how it would hold up.

The pictures I've seen (I've seen two) have both been of Neptune - perhaps there's a problem with that specific model, or maybe the deep blue ink is most noticeable. I wore my Sun all day yesterday and haven't had a problem at all - but I wasn't outside sweating or anything, and probably wouldn't notice some light orange ink on my pale skin.
