Midshipmam, that surely sounds like intelligent and mature advice, thank you.
I would immediately do so if there was a good chance of getting a better one but as I understand that does not seem to be the case? I do want a Turtle though and if all the other copies are equal at best I might as well keep this one. Again, advice is greatly appreciated.

if "that" bothers you, you're in the wrong hobby =) OCD is not a good thing in the life of a WIS. keep it and ENJOY the cool watch on your wrist.

on the other side as a seller, if you returned that to my store, I would gladly let you return it and try to find one that was ok for you. then I would, with a smile on my face, ask you not to return.

OCD is a serious medical issue and I hope you get the help you need, assuming you actually have a diagnosis and aren't just "picky" about things.

That said, you will probably have to spend multiples more on a higher end watch if you want something closer to perfection. Even then it's not guaranteed. My Sub has a misaligned bezel and it cost way more than this Turtle.

It probably is as good as it gets but it has bothered you enough to register on here and post the pictures and ask for our feedback.

As midshipman01 said that indicates to me that you will regret it sooner or later.

Send it back and do not buy anymore Seiko divers unless you can buy in person and do your own QC inspection prior to handing over your money.

Please consider the vertical images and compare the lines of the cyclops with the lines on the dial. They are not parallel.
I think the problem, as midshipman points out, is that the grid on the dial will constantly remind you that the cyclops is misaligned. Only you know whether you're the kind of person for whom the annoyance of these misalignments will fade over time, or whether it was gnaw at you more. But, I suspect that if you have to ask, then it isn't acceptable to you, and you're better off returning it.

Thanks for all your kind answers! To make this clear, it is me who has to decide wether the issue is enough to return the watch. As to that, I am still undecided.
What I have hoped to find here is advice, to what extent such misalignments are normal for a Seiko. There is zero point in returning the watch if a) I do want a Turtle, b) all Turtle cyclopses (what a word...) are misaligned to this degree.
If you, the Seiko experts, now would tell me, that most Turtles actually have straight bezels, I would return the watch - but, if I understand that correctly, that does not seem to be the case?

I say get your money back if it bothers you. Find another one, new or on the used market. on the other hand if you like everything else, you could always remove it. And that’s the thing with seiko: they often need so much more tweaking after the sticker price. But what can I say, it’s still probably my favorite brand.

My opinion is that you should keep it. I have the same model King Turtle, and its cyclops alignment is pretty good. I notice that the angle from which I view the watch affects my perception of whether it is straight or slightly crooked. Try tilting the watch around to different viewing angles. Does it look straight at times, crooked at times? I think it's quite possible that your photos are taken at an angle that makes it appear crooked. It's a great watch, enjoy it!

Guess it depends on how bad your OCD is. Its a Seiko so if you send back for a new one you may end up with something worse. Maybe it will be perfect. Its a crapshoot. My Turtle has the same issue and Ive learned to live with it. Although it doesn't get much wrist time anymore . Anyhoo, that's my two cents.

I'd return it..the dial gridlines enhance the crookedness . honestly, if i paid anything more than a few hundred dollars, i would want obvious misalignments to the naked eye, rectified or id just exchange ..it is simple to do and within your options so why not. Get the other one, compare which one to keep, return the other one. Save yourself the fussy feeling deep inside your gut. my 2cents.
