I own this watch for 1 year now (blue color) and it completely destroyed my watch collection. I have several other watches lower and even higher in price range but i just don't wear them enough. Every time i strap one of them on my wrist, I'm basically sorry that I did. I feel i just lost a day of looking at my 300M.

I thought this fase would pass but nope. After a year i still can't wait to put it on the wrist the next say.

What i adore on this watch?

Blue color is fantastic. It changes depending of the light. It's great inside, it's fantastic outside.

Bracelet is so comfortable, microadjustements are so usefull, design fits the watch great. The end link design compliments the watch incredible well. I also have a blue rubber strap on deployent clasp. Also great, but i tend to always come back to bracelet quickly.

Case design is sexy as hell. For a 42mm watch, it wears small, comfortable and low. I'm in love in the side look of a case. Together with bracelet end links they show curves i can't stop looking at.

The dial. From a totaly clear saphire crystal, to white deeeep circles that represent every 5 minutes, to the waves in the back ground, little red accents, etc.

The shine. Combination of brushed and smooth surfaces makes it shine on the wrist without being cocky. Love it.

Quality. You can feel it while handling the watch 100%.

Yep, i adore this watch.

But.

I would still like to mix it up a bit. I would like to find the other one. That would bring the same joy, just in different model/color.

Since you now know what makes this Seamaster so good looking to me, can you suggest any company/model that can keep up with this Omega or even defeat it? For the same or less money (5k)? Maybe an elegant chronograph on a bracelet? But which one?

I have the same watch but black...well, kind of. My dad just sort of claimed it. lol

It's a fantastic watch but I wouldn't wear it, even if it were still under my roof, because of these three. I like the BB58 a lot more than the 300m and it's well below your budget. Mine fit fine as is but I bought two Uncle Seiko half links and they made it wrap perfectly, one half link on either side of the clasp, I suggest getting these half links to anyone who has slight fitment issues.

My point of view. you may not find anything else that you like as much? Nothing wrong with wearing one Watch all the time. I even think that is a good thing to do. You still have the others when you feel like it’s time to wear something different. Or like you found out or not! Vance.

Upgrade going over budget:
Submariner

Companion without microadjustment but with better size proportions:
older seamasters from 1993-2009

Chrono:
Tudor BB Chrono

Just want something different:
Iwc mark xvii
JLC ultra thin

just want something equal:
Seamaster in another colour

I catch myself doing this too but I always find it a funny outlook that we humans often have. “I have this thing that I paid a lot for so that I would be sure to enjoy it, and sure enough I love everything about it. Now I’m wondering what else I should buy to wear instead.”

Just enjoy the thing. At least for a good while or until something else really makes a case for itself because you love it, or your lifestyle changes, or some other reason why a new one is warranted. For now it seems like the only thing you would be chasing is not an improvement, but a quick dopamine hit from a new acquisition…which in my book is never a worthwhile reason.

In the meantime wear the crap out of the one that’s really doing it for you.

White and black wins. The reason being functionality. SMP 300 has a deficit in legibility due to skeleton hands. With the blue dial and dial versions the hands can disappear due to polished pieces having the ability to go black, same for black dial. There's not enough lume in the hour hand to make it super obvious where it is at a glance. With the black surrounds against a white dial it is a little bit easier to pick up on the hour hand without having to look no matter what angle the light hits the hands.

I have the 41mm SMPc and love it. Got it about ten years ago, and can't see ever parting with it. Currently enjoying it on a white Zealande.

My latest watch that I have been wearing more often than not is the Chopard Mille Miglia Racing Colors. The glossy red dial gets a lot of attention. The case is rounded and polished, quite different from the Omega but very sublime in its own way. A worthy pairing. Bought it new at a discount. Wearing it on a Fluco Horween Shell Cordovan Racing strap.

Although I don’t have the blue Seamaster 300 (I have the ceramic/Sedna gold Seamaster 300) I can see why many would say it’s a watch collection destroyer. It’s versatile and the color of the blue is great.
My next acquisition will be the PO orange bezel but after that I’m torn between the SMP 300
Blue and Tudor Pelagos Blue. If I decide on the bkue SMP300, Maybe I’ll be posting this same post in a year or so!?

I've owned my SMP for 17 yrs. It's a great watch that still gets wrist time despite owning several watches that are a lot more money. The width and thickness are just about perfect.

Amazing watch, and a serious looker at that. Just doesn’t fit my 6.5 inch wrist very well. So here we are:
