The new orange colorway came up on Fratello and it caught my attention. This might be the answer to my $1250 diver question as it seems to check all the boxes.

There's so little additional info other than copy-pastes of the Edox press release. There's one thread here that didn't get very far. Can anyone chime in before I commit to buying one?

PS: There's a service center in NYC that is authorized by Edox (also Squale and a few others), so that should put to rest my doubts about future service and repairs.

And yet so many Swiss sports watches use that lug width, from some Victorinox's to the Oris Sixty-Five to several new Rolexes

At least the Edox appears to have more clearance between the spring bar and case than the Mido:

I like it. I don't have this model, but do own two Edox watches and have found them to be of excellent quality with great value vs price, IMHO.

I would not hesitate to get that one, and have added it to my shopping list.

Good luck.

Please post pictures if you get it. I really want to see that beautiful orange dial.

There's a reason for the naming @watch_hor .

The "SkyDiver" part is horological mythology - from the Fratello article I linked:

The stone cold facts may have been lost to time, but the rumor is that in 1973, a Swiss colonel made a secret request that a watch should be made to honor the military's paratroopers in light of the "extreme conditions they might face - on land, air or sea." So that is why this "diver" has the word "Sky" before it. Because these brave men for whom the watch was made as a tribute had to ply their trade in the heavens, the briny deep, and everywhere in between.
And "Neptunian" is Roman mythology - from the Monochrome article I linked:

The solid case back has a detailed engraving of Neptune, the Roman God of the Sea, hence the name.
I suspect this is also a nod to the 1000M WR.

I’m with watch_hor on the name, regardless of the backstory they’re putting out there. I’d struggle to pay retail for an Edox. I’ve owned a few without complaints (including a real recent purchase), but personally I’d take my chances that this will show up on Ashford at half off down the road.

Great watch, fantastic value for the money, solid and very well crafted, looks and feels like a much more expensive watch. The only thing lacking is the rubber strap, it’s soft but slim for a top heavy and tall watch, from a modest 21mm lugs it tapers to an almost goofy looking width at the buckle, I like it better on NATO. I have a few high end watches in my collection and this doesn’t disappoints.
