Usually well-informed circles report that Rolex will increase prices by about 5% on November 1.

Hah - well the insanity of today's Rolex cult means a non working, movement less, display model will be a unicorn worth 4x MSRP at the greys - people aint buying a watch to tell the time but to tell others who they think they are

Gone are them days when you bought your subby & I my SD and we bought em as decent wearing sports time tellers

Rolex, by the way, is in good company, IWC has also had three price increases in the current year and if I'm not too wrong, Cartier has also had three and Omega two.

... and well, according to rumors, the next price increase will then take place in the first quarter of 2023.

MY Omega AD said to expect another price rise Jan1st - that is I think 3 in 12 months?
weak pound makes it inevitable I guess

Yep the Speedy sure has gone up in recent times.

hope this is not a nod to others to also raise prices :(
It sure will be though. I was told by my UK AD there's another Omega price increase on the way and as noted above Cartier has had a number of rises this year too.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

My guess is that for 95% of people buying a Cartier or Rolex or Omega these days, the increased prices are no issue. A Speedy at £6k; Explorer at what £6.5k?, Santos just under £7k. I'm talking here about the casual, luxury buying audience.

For watch enthusiasts, who are defined by their hobby rather than their wealth, its likely to have more of an effect. Partly because we have a very wide range of incomes within our hobby, but also partly because we track the prices over time - a Speedy at £6k might still be good value objectively, but it seems less value when you know you could get a Speedy for £4k 18 months ago.

Perhaps these ongoing price increases - yes, due to inflation, but most people's salaries aren't keeping pace with inflation - will start to re-shape our hobby and the watches that you see most often on message boards.
