Hey everyone! Thinking about purchasing a second dive watch. I am an HVAC tech that wears my watches to work so I need something durable (sapphire and ceramic bezel) and comfortable. I currently have a green Devil Diver reissue, but that was a gift from my wife when our daughter was born so I don't want to wear it working and damage it. I have other watches I wear for work (Hamilton khaki field mechanical white and brown dial, citizen paradigm and a seiko 5m63-0c10), but am looking to add a diver to the work rotation. I have been thinking about a King Turtle or a Certina DS action diver. Between these two which would you recommend, or do you have any other suggestions? I usually like to get watches with some history behind them. Here are the two I am considering.

I would vote for the turtle. Makes a great everyday watch made to take a lot of abuse. Easy to have serviced etc. I have a Turtle Save The Oceans but it's not a King. I don't like the cyclops on the day/date but that's personal taste. The certina is fine but I think their are more interesting watches like the Certina PH200 but maybe that's more $$ than you want to spend for your daily beater.

i'm sure either watch would be fine. i wear that certina diver in a slightly different configuration and have been very happy with it. 21mm lug width on this one, and the model you are looking at. usually, 22 mm rubber straps will fit, but 21mm fits better. in the summer, i wear mine on a leather/rubber hybrid strap from Hirsch that is sold in 21mm width. stock photo:

Thank you everyone for the suggestions!

I actually originally planned to get this one, but found out it didn't have a ceramic bezel. I don't think it would stand up as a work watch?

Leaning towards the turtle. Hopefully going to find one local to try it on
it depends on your damage of choice,
a bezel in ceramics will resist scratches and discolouration, but dings against hard surfaces may break it, and will be expensive to replace,
your experience with damage to watches you've previously been using may help with that decision,
but the turtle is a good choice, of course, as is the scurfa or the certina,
I can't remember if any of glycine's combat subs come with a ceramic bezel, but some do (did?) come with a sapphire one,
may be worth a look

I would lean towards the Turtle myself if I had to choose between the two. Otherwise if you want to try something a bit different, I would consider Armida A1 in brass. Being an HVAC man the brass would complement any sort of HVAC installation or repair you make. :)

That's actually a really cool idea! I was looking into others as well and found the Helson Shark Diver 40.
I do like Bracelets though and found the Zelos bronze (which is mostly copper so still makes sense with my work, lol) with a bracelet. Decisions, decisions

I've not owned a Certina, but have Seiko's. Turtle is a comfortable design and if you like the look/fits go for it. My 'beater' watch is an Islander ISL-01 and I've been really happy with it over the years. I've taken it surfing in all kinds of conditions, swimming, doing bodywork/autmotive. I do take it off when welding however...

I think the finish is better than the entry level Seiko's. Marc provides great support for his products (I had a crown seal start to fail and he replaced free of charge) and the steel bracelet is of high quality. Another option...

I received the Helson and am very happy with it! I posted a thread sharing my thoughts on the watch.

The deal ended up falling through on the turtle so I think I am going to hold off for a while and enjoy what I have. I've bought 3 in the past month so need to slow down, lol.

Thank you everyone for your input! Definitely will take it into consideration for my next purchase.
