Hello guys, I have the opportunity to buy a full set 14270 N Series from a private seller. This is my first Rolex, I have done a lot of research, including the complete article made by Hodinkee on the 14270, and to me the watch seems genuine. The seller is too far from my location to be met in real life, so I need your advices please. He told me that he didn't buy the watch new, which bothers me a bit, but he seems to be a connoisseur (he talks about frozen dial, drilled lug holes, tritium dial, etc.). He thinks all pieces are original, including bracelet and clasp.

He also told me that the watch has been overhauled in September 2019 by a watchmaker previously working for Rolex. I asked him if he has any paper about that, like a listing of the operations done by this guy on the watch. I'm waiting for his answer. I already have a lot of photos that I'll share with you, and I'm waiting for more in the coming days. I will also post them here.

Thank you very much for your help.

What’s your question?

“Serviced by a guy who used to work for Rolex” means to me it is not serviced.

Do you know the seller? Sounds risky if it’s not a known seller as you have no idea what you’ll actually receive. Always buy the seller. Lots of photos mean nothing… even if he is a “connoisseur”. 😵‍💫

My question, or my request is to help me determine if this watch is authentic or not. And no, I don't know the seller at all.

If you don't know the seller, then proceed with LOTS of caution.......

The price is $8k8, so it's not cheap. I'm not attracted by the price, but by the watch. To me it looks genuine but the guy being a random internet guy makes me hesitating.
You’ve answered your own question I think…”but the guy being a random internet guy”

Not saying I’m the most knowledgeable, but in 25 years, I don’t think I’ve ever had to ask another’s opinion on if I should buy a watch… it should be obvious, if not walk away.

That's also why I need advices
Google, ebay, chrono24...do some research on this model and the prices they go for. I found this listing in about 5 seconds from a seller with a long history on this site and it cost $2k less than the overpriced one you're looking at.

Damn, I wish I could wear 36 mm… I’d buy that… with a little negotiation, of course. 🥱

I wouldn't want a dial in that condition, and I think that's the wrong clasp for that model (someone correct me if I'm wrong on that point). Also, I think a really nice 14270 is trading for more like USD $5k-6k. Is the $8k you mention in USD or some other currency?

Thank you guys, I'll give up on this one.

Thanks but it's not the same watch. It's a 114270, no tritium dial etc.

It's 8300€, so approx $8800
