What new Seiko would you buy with discount?

A friend of mine works at a dealer, and offered that I could use their employee discount.

Seiko is 45% off. Now that’s tempting. I browsed the ADs website and they don’t have a whole lot online. My understanding is that you can order anything in as well, subject to availability. Supposedly they have a good relationship with Seiko, although the high discount makes me wonder if they’re phasing them out🤔

Anyway! What would you buy new from an AD at 45% off? No GS and I don’t think they sell SLA (at least not on their website) nor KS–I could ask but their website tops out at ~£1300 Prospex…

Currently I’m thinking a nice Cocktail Time or 63MAS

Shame the SLAs are not listed, definitely worth asking but that would be a very sizeable discount!

As I mentioned on another thread recently, I tried on a lot of Prospex divers recently and was surprised that I didn't get a buzz for any of the vintage inspired 63mas / slim turtle / mm200 reduced type models. The one that unexpectedly caught my eye was the King Sumo, and it wore very comfortably... this is the one i'd spend my money on:

You haven't stated your budget. Presage or Prospex. Personally, a Prospex Samurai - there are so many different models. They're quite chunky though if you don't have the wrist space. Cocktail times as already suggested.
But if I had to buy a sub £1300 Seiko with that discount it would be this.

The dial is fantastic and it's a strap monster.

I was so excited for your till I read this… a sla model at 45% is really a deal. Still I’d probably go with the spb143 over the cocktail time. I have a spb149 love it, I had a blue cocktail time loved it too but sold.

I'd be looking at a Willard, one of the new Slim models, a Tortoise, Alpinist Laurel, and maybe not worth the effort, but one of the new Seiko 5 36mm field watches. Or an SNE573?

But the SLA037 was a LE and they sold out long ago.. Plus the OP said "No GS and I don’t think they sell SLA "...
shame as an 037 at 45% off would be a steal..
ps - that blue Alpinist up above is stunning, I would buy one of those!

Thanks for the suggestions! Some good ones I hadn’t thought about yet.

I took another look at their website and they actually are GS ADs, but I’d have to double check the discount, I think the 45% was for Seiko, GS might be the ‘standard’ 30% employee discount.

I’d have to ask but on second thought, I do think they can get SLA. GS and SLA just isn’t really in my (responsible) budget right now…though I should get a lump sum inheritance this year so maybe for later 2023 👀
Not gonna jump on anything now
