I'm considering trying a Bonklip on my Murph 38mm. Here in the UK, it seems the 20mm Forstner Klip is sold out everywhere. However, I've found a couple of others. Serica and Joseph Bonnie.

Has anyone tried these? Recommendations or warnings to avoid a particular brand are very welcome. Cheers!

Or is a bonklip a bonklip and it doesn't matter?

I have a modern Forstner and a Serica along with a couple of vintage 1940s/ 50s Bonklips.
I think early on Serica used Bonnie, but now…

I have the Forstner and enjoy it quite a bit, even though I wasn't sure about it at first. Took a little while and I had to find the right watch for it. They work best on small/light watches as opposed to large/heavy. I originally wanted to put it on a digital, but quickly realized that would be a weird look.

I've not handled/worn Bonnie-style clasp, but from the pictures/reviews I've seen of it, I think I made the right choice with the Forstner, just seems like a better system. I would wait for one of those. Always seem to be lighty-worn used ones available, since they are not for everyone.

I bought one of those for $30 2 years back to put on a vintage HMT Jawan I got my hands on. Not quite as comfortable on the wrist as the OG one on my vintage Sowar Prima but it is solid, and wears well, if not a skosh on the lighter side

There are differences. I started a thread about this a few years ago here. I have examples of both the Forstner & Joseph Bonnie/Serica (as tundif mentioned, they're the same company) & discussed some of the differences in my old thread. Summary: (1) the JB/Serica is closer to vintage Bonklips in design/operation & has the advantage of more precise adjustment because it has smaller links (which I find more comfortable), but the disadvantage is that it needs a tighter/close fit on the wrist for tension to secure the clip, so if you prefer a looser fit, it can easily come loose if you move your wrist around a lot; (2) the Forstner has the advantage of a spring-loaded clip, so it's more secure if you prefer a looser fit, but the disadvantage is that it has bigger links w/bigger gaps, so it has less precise adjustment (also, as Watchcap noted, the clasp's push buttons can snag on sleeves).

I too have the Bonclip on a Serica. Takes a little technique and does seem a little frail at first, but is one of the most comfortable and adjustable bracelets I own (and it looks cool, reminding me of my grandfather’s old watches.)

This thread has got me quite interested. Any thoughts on how a bonclip would look on my Max Bill?

Whether the Bonklip style works as a "look" is up to you, but I think it would be fine. That said, IMHO, the JB/Serica is a better match for your Max Bill than the Forstner.

I think the nature of the Max Bill design would let itself to a bonklip well (that's my personal thought)

I feel it works best on vintage watches, thin watches, and watches with thinner bezels and lugs. I for one wouldn't buy one for my Dad to put on his Submariner for example.
