SSK003 Review

I got my SSK003 yesterday and this review is 24 hours in.

Dial
Blue sunburst with standard Lumibrite markers and hands. A red GMT hand offsets it all. Great job on the dial.

Bezel
Batman dial with Friction fit. 24 hour markers with hardlex cover. The blue section changes from blue to black based on angle. Beautiful job and probably my favorite feature.

Case
Stainless steel with melted lugs at 42.5mm wide. 14.7mm thick to the top of the cyclops and 14mm to the rest of the hardlex. Drill through lugs and transparent case back completes it.

Bracelet
22mm Jubilee bracelet with stamped clasp and cotter pin links. Solid links including the end links.

Movement
4r34 with very good accuracy out of the box. 0.2 spd for me on the wrist. From the Timegrapher

DU - 8 - 295 - 0.2
DD - 2 - 275 - 0.3
CU - (-10) - 247 - 0.5
CD - (-2) - 255 - 0.0

Overall, the accuracy from the factory is fine. The precision is also good for this movement, certainly acceptable for a mechanical. Small amount of tuning could probably clean up the poise to lower the pendant position spread.

I am very happy with the purchase! A solid caller GMT for a reasonable price!

Great review. Been looking at the JDM version (SBSC003), and it looks exactly the same as the SSK003, U.S. version (with 'Made in Japan's on the dial).

This is a picture of the caseback of a SBSC003. Is your's exactly the same? With 'Made in Japan' on the rotor, and '4R34A Seiko Time Corp. Japan' as well?

I love it! I have the same SSK003 Batman gifted to me a couple of months ago; your review is spot on.
