if this is a solar watch, don't they usually use a quartz movement? Yet the second hand does not tick each second like all my other quartz/solar watches, it is moving more like an automatic.

The chronograph is solar. The diver is automatic.

The chronograph will still have a sweeping chrono hand, but the seconds hand is ticking in that left subdial.

ok, I was referring to the big seconds hand on the chrono that looked more like an automatic than a quartz (solar). I did notice the small seconds ticking like a quartz.

The Mako looks like a homage to the BlancPain 50 Fathoms and, like the Defender line, is an original design in many ways. These kind of unique designs is what will help Orient and I agree that their QC tends to be better than Seiko.

Among Mako, Ray and Kamasu, Mako is my absolute favorite. All three are spin off diver design but Mako got most distinctive character due to numeral on dial. Equipped with sapphire this time really is no brained in terms of value. Not to mention Orient QC is tighter. Seiko today really need to review pricing and rethink about what foundation they have been set themselves on.

I bought this Orient on a Whim because it was cheap and the last of a model, basically I was looking for an accurate Quartz!... Every day it blows me away with its extreme quality, legibility,
Use ability, comfort!
Yes I'm looking for another Orient.
