I have some Graf von Faber-Castell pens and pencils but I struggle to find good refills for the rollerball. I've been using 8562-3 from Cross but they tend to go dry real quick. It's like they go dry over a rather short period of time instead of certain amount of use. Actually if I let the pen rest for five minutes, I can write a word or two and then nothing again...

I wonder if there is a regular "dry" ballpoint refill of same size? All the cheap marketing pens seem to last for years...

That's the nature of rollerball, they're water based and will dry up by itself eventually.

You can preserve it by leaving the refill cap on the refill instead of putting it inside the pen. But you'll have to put it in every time you try to use it of course.

If I am not mistaken Cross makes gel and ballpoint refill in the same size as 8562-3, might be a good place to start. UNI SXR Jetstream is one of the best ballpoints refills, very smooth writing, especially with larger tip size, will not dry up if left open, should be compatible with your pen. Visit JetPens, they have tons of refills in various sizes, you’ll definitely find something that will work for you. Best of luck!!!

Agree!
That’s what I ended up doing myself. I bought 2 replacement & left one installed in the pen. It was less than 6 months & that refill was dry, in-usable & had to be trashed.
with the 2nd one I have it’s cap on & install it each time I write - a pain - but it’s lasted years now…
