Anyone else get this? Email just went out to people who tried and failed on the mad1 raffle 3 times. I just made my purchase. I previously owned the blue which was fun but I paid the markup and never felt truly happy with it. Hoping this time around at msrp I’m a more satisfied owner.

Wow! That’s a nice gesture!
I got lucky with the red, but didn’t get the green. If anyone doesn’t want to use their link, mind sharing it with me?

I knew nothing about this watch/brand but did some light digging.

Just curious how this watch goes over with the "smaller is better" crowd. The Red version is 18mm thick and 42mm case size.

Is it a case where the hype surrounding it and the resultant FOMO amongst those who are afflicted with FOMO disease convince themselves to like it when maybe (most likely) they would rail against its dimensions if a less hyped watchmaker /brand were to churn something like this out?

Thousands of dollars for a Miyota 821x movement? Max whatever his name is must have quite a following to be able to sell a watch with a such pedestrian movement for such amounts.

According to Hood-winkee:

The same features that make the M.A.D. 1 so incredible are still present. Front and center is the titanium and tungsten triple-blade rotor visible through the crystal. A totally reworked Miyota 821A is flipped upside down so the rotor sits where the dial would be.

I mean I am glad those who dig it, dig it. But the design does nothing for me as I prefer a more traditional dial. Avant garde is not my thing, I want to be able to read the time at a quick glance and not have to read a "short story" to tell what time it is.

I have a small wrist and limit the size of my watch purchases. However, these aren’t a daily wear type and not a gada type watch. They’re an amusement and the size is fine for that type of watch to me. So even the small wristed smile when wearing that anomaly.

Genius is thrown about too easily in the watch world.

It is set up so you can’t use someone else’s link- none for instance is linked to my address and name and must be used in that way
Thanks for that. Does one have to pay right away? Or is it more like you pay once they are ready to ship? One can always pay and ship it to someone else’s address. Obviously this requires a great deal of trust between the buyer and seller. So probably will work only in case of a few long term members with good reputation.
Guess will need to wait and see how much they pop up on the secondary market for!

You do have it right though. It doesn’t speak to me personally but there are some people for whom a sculpture by this artist is its own reward, and its weirdness is seen as a positive in light of the mind that had a hand in its creation.

I think that’s ok. Hate the watch though.

it’s pay immediately. Can’t say I’m a fan of this general model when it comes to preordering but I get that it provides some measure of security for the manufacturer.

my guess is secondary will be 5-6k tops. The market was super hot for the initial blue and red runs but it cooled significantly. The only difference with this vs the regular green is the clover on the crown. WUS can be fanatics over very slight variations though.

Totally understand your purchase decision and you are entitled to buy what you want.

I just find the protestations of many, e.g., those who were complaining about the "slab sidedness" of the Tudor Black Bay when it went from the ETA movement to the in-house movement, which made the case thickness get closer to 13mm? maybe? abit over the top.

But this thing is 18mm THICK!

So by my thinking (all conjecture of course) is those who complained about a 13mm Tudor may be tripping over themselves to get one of these, because the Tudor BB for whatever has become ultra trendy, especially amongst the newbie WIS, who by my reading have been brain-washed to think "smaller is better", and this watch seems to be a trendy cult watch, which may attract the same crowd.

DISCLAIMER: I am not attributing those characteristics to you but am just mentioning it further elaborate on my initial post.

I knew “lucky clover” sounded familiar. The whole thing is worth a watch, but the relevant part starts at around three minutes, five seconds.
