Hi everyone,

I need some help with a Cartier Buckle. I'm planning to buy a Tank Arrondie, but the buckle is not Cartier branded.... The watch is from the late 70s.

Thanks for your help.

Have you googled your question, something usually comes up.

Im sure if you want to source a gold Cartier buckle then you will be able to, at a cost.

Do you need a Cartier branded buckle? Only you can answer that question.

If you have concerns about the authenticity of the watch because of this, then buy the seller is the best advice.

Buying anything antique or old is a minefield as lots of things get changed over the years, and a very in depth knowledge of what the item should look like is needed.

Like many Cartier tanks they could have originally come on the deployant or they may have had a pin/tang buckle. This is obviously not the original pin/tang buckle. It could be they had a problem with the original deployant and this was the low cost substitute. The condition reflects the price you pay for the piece. In this case the broader question is, what is the watch worth if it had a deployant, or a Cartier pin buckle, or it has a pin buckle but it's not original too the watch and needs replacement. Work out the value and Then go source the correct pin buckle. As mentioned above , ask the AD how much it is before buying on line.
