TLDR:
Went on a mini vacation, wore some watches and bought one. Where did we go?
Full story:
Instead of the usual "what should I take?" thread, I'll share what I took and why. Not that it's particularly interesting but it segues nicely into a NWA (thanks to my lovely wife) and a guessing game. Of course there are some gratuitous watch photos.
Wife and I headed east from home as a quick, late-week get away. We needed a break and we chose a city that we somehow had never visited despite living just 5 hours away.
The trip was low-key. We dined, toured relaxed and got it a bit of outdoors activities. I brought along my Explorer II (my favorite, if forced to choose), JLC Reverso Duo (classy but versatile) and a G-Shock (we know its purpose). A surprise watch was added on Friday and it arrived at my house today.
I mainly wore the Explorer. It's sporty, and I really enjoy wearing it. For jeans or shorts and any vacation activity, it works well. I love tracking a second time zone too, though I didn't need it on this jaunt.
We had a couple of nice dinners and those called for the Duo. I dressed in jeans; wore the watch on grey canvas one night and brown Casa Fagliano the next dinner.
We walked the city a good bit, went on a horse drawn ghost tour and took a harbor excursion. No major physical activity, but the G-Shock was called into action.
My wife expects a trip to a watch store (or two or three) wherever we go. It only took one visit to satiate my watch window shopping needs this time.
Just last week I was introduced to a Nomos Club (courtesy of @GP7742) that I had not seen before, even though I have been checking them out for a while. It's a discontinued model (744, Club Neomatik Siren White) but it spoke to me and I knew I wanted one. I was not expecting I'd come across one. Lo and behold, this AD had one. Looked great, felt great. I left the store without it.
I told myself there just isn't much wrist time available with a somewhat large-ish rotation. To my surprise, a little bird (the wife) would not stop telling me to "get the watch". I guess she observed how much I liked it and she liked the look too. As we walked down the street, she kept at it, so we made a u-turn.
The white textile strap it came on was too small and the AD had a longer suede that I thought worked really well. I had them swap it out and here we are.
I bought the watch. It's a nice fit for my collection. It's just sporty/casual enough and is different from anything else I own aside from another white dial watch I really like.
All said, it was a great trip. We ate well and I was able to spend quality time with the woman I love. She is amazing! The new watch is nice too, but best of all, we are expecting the greatest gift ever before year end.
P.S., anyone know where we went?
