I've read multiple times online that the Solo is holding its resale value better than the Must, due to its desirability for it's more classic design and better components. Is this really the case?

Is it possible that what's being referred to is the Must de Cartier which preceded the Solo, not the Must which followed it?

If it's the current Must, which components are better in the Solo? I understood that the current Must has some design styling borrowed from the Louis?

I think either the Solo or the Must will hold their value well. I have compared...both seem to be holding their value great. I had rather have the most recent model and pay a little more. See if you can determine the year it was made. I personally wouldn't be too concerned Must vs. Solo. I still think that was a good price on that one you showed me. Buy it and wear it and don't worry what the rest of the world thinks! LOL!

All of the advice is wonderful and much appreciated. I'm about to pull the trigger tomorrow, so I've been scouring the internet, hoping to ensure I've taken everything into consideration. ⌚🤔

Holding value is a silly game to play. Taste change, desirability fluctuates. Popularity today have no bearing on future pricing (not value!).

In 10, 20 years, the differences in price will be negliable. Pick the one you like more. Styling vise there are lots of differences, the dial makes the two watches very different to me, more so than the case.

Actually, it's silly not to consider value. It should be a consideration when making any substantial purchase, from a house, to a vehicle, to a watch. Most of those are depreciating assets, but if the wish or need should arise to sell it, one would want to increase the return, even if it's by reducing the loss. Of course, there's no crystal ball, but one can view historical trends and at least gain a sense of the direction a value may go.

Regarding the dials, are you referring to the differences in the XL watches?

Nvm. Good luck.

Thanks for clarifying my mistakes:)
lol, no problem! Cartier is one of the brands that is notoriously hard to find out lug widths (and most of the time it’s oddball size anyways). I’m trying to compile a list of references that are actually 20mm. I thought for a long time that Solo was 20mm… nope, sure as hell they added a tiny bit extra. 😂

the large santos dumont is 17.8mm

like really? they couldnt make it 18mm? 🤣

They are both great watches. You should buy the one you like the most. If I were making the purchase, I would probably go with the Must as the rounded brancards are more traditional to the brand. However, both will provide you with many years of enjoyment. Good luck and enjoy whichever model you choose!

honestly dont even think about the tank solo, considering the thread about the straps and how the solo has a 20.5mm

just save yourself the stress and get the newer tank must with 19mm lug width which is now more readily available
