You're not where you think you are if you would buy an omega if you won $50k tax free lottery. Not even close.
The obvious answers are a Patel nautilus, a royal oak from AP, maybe an overseas from vacheron or something from a Lange like a datograph? Or did you miss the part where I said I would get the omega and invest the rest in my kids education? Let’s say brand new aqua terra for about 7000. Leaves me 43,000 left which is a great invest into a child’s future. Versus a royal oak for say 25000 and now only 25000 left for my child. I’ll take the additional 22000 for his education and enjoy my omega

I wouldn't buy a watch. Even if I won a free million dollars tomorrow, I wouldn't buy a watch. If you say where you are, money shouldn't change the equation.

You’re right. I wouldn’t buy a watch even though the temptation is there. I would take the money and put it into a savings account and let it build for my son. Or at the very least put it into a down payment on a newer house for my family

I learned that I don’t need to impress anyone
Why is it that every time someone here posts about being content with their affordables they have to insinuate that buying something more expensive is only done to impress others ? It's this type of shallow assumption that leads me to conclude your persistent attestations are borne more of insecurity and jealousy than contentment or 'clarity'.

Yet here I am typing this wearing a cheap seiko perfectly happy with where I am at collection wise. Congrats to you and your collection and I mean that. You worked hard for them and saved up the money for them and got them when you were able to. Congrats to anyone else who have luxury watches. It’s where their goals were and they worked hard for them. I want a luxury watch sure. More I don’t need a luxury watch.

And yet there you are implying more expensive watches are bought to impress others. I don't need anyone's congratulations on any of my watches, cheap or expensive. I don't buy them to impress or seek affirmation of some kind. I don't pass judgement on others' purchase preferences, and would otherwise have just liked your post and moved on if it weren't for your gripe or self justification that clearly signals you're not fully content.

If it came off that way I apologize. Figured I would share that I am content with where I am at with watch collecting. Are expensive watches nice? Yes they are but it doesn’t make them better or worse than any other watch. This hobby to me boils down to buy what you like and wear what you can afford to wear. We have all seen celebrities in real expensive and real affordable watches.

Where is your vacheron, patek , audemars? I look at your signature and don’t see a holy trinity watch in your collection. Everyone has their own tastes and that’s what makes watch collecting unique. There’s someone out there who only collects Casios and doesn’t care for automatics or luxury watches just like there’s people out there who only collect big brand luxury watches like the ones mentioned and to them a Rolex is a beater watch. It’s wrong I like seiko and don’t want to break away from a price bracket I’m comfortable at and need to look at other brands? What I don’t want to?

I really have no idea what you're asking or implying here.

You really seem hung up on others having watches that are more expensive.

Not at all. You seem hung up telling me how I should feel and how I should act. For instance I am content with my collection and where it’s at. Do I want another watch. Yes I do, but don’t need another watch. I should have phrased the title as point of contentment. 3000 plus posts in and yet here you are establishing what I’m supposed to like and not. If me being happy with what I have bothers you that’s your own issue. Are you not happy with your own collection and telling me I need more to be happy? You’re probably not even a parent and right now my son is more important to me than any watch in the world

Congrats on your growing family! Big life events have a way of bringing into focus what really matters. Watch enthusiasm/collecting is great, but no one NEEDS more watches. I'd say you're on the right path if you're thinking about pausing on new acquisitions. There's nothing wrong with being (almost) in a happy place with what you have and enjoying the "wearing" aspect more than the "acquiring" aspect.

I myself am in a good place at the moment after consolidating down a larger collection. I still think it'd be nice to have just "one more", but that's sort of the nature of the beast and I can be at peace with that.

Based off what I’m seeing you have very nice pieces. Would love to have one of them if it was in the cards. However I still can’t bring myself to go above 500 dollars for a watch again. My priority is my family. Watches are nice, but family first and hobbies second

Sorry for my long post. Has anyone else reached the point of feeling like you’re done collecting?
As you noted elsewhere in your post, it will be interesting to see if you stick to your guns with stopping buying watches. I feel like I'm always 1 watch away from my last watch. I feel like it's right around the corner for me, but I'm not quite there. When I find a chronograph that I really love, I'll be very close to the end of buying watches. I really don't want a second Omega, but I might have to get a Speedy of some variety. I want to like what Zenith has on offer, but something about their aesthetic puts me off just enough.

How about a Daytona? If I was in your position of an endgame chronograph that would be it for me. Not others come close in terms of wearability and icon status. The only other chronograph I can think of would be the speedmaster.
