Hi everyone. I've been looking a nice and we'll balanced watch. I've had the skx007 and the spork. Both very nice pieces.

Ive been doing a little reading on the sbdc001 and hear positive things about it. Now I'm not looking to buy 2 or 3,000 on a piece just something nice and that feels good on my wrist. Now I love the look and feel of the old and reliable skx007 but I would like something a little larger. The spork I loved how it felt miss it very much bc I sold it to a good friend. Oh we'll time to move on.

Plus I would like to have something with back hacking.

If there's any other models I should consider please advise
Thanks for any advise and help.

It is hard to beat value of Sumo,if you looking for more refined style you should have look in Shogun too SBDC 007.

I agree, the Sumo is hard to beat in it's price range. For a lighter and more "traditional" looking watch the Shogun is a good choice at ~$1000. Completely different looking watches though, whichever sings to you is the winner, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Try Rakuten if you want to wait bit longer for delivery, otherwise there is Seraya,Chino and Higuchi,I personally got watch from Higutchi and his service was excellent,I also got 3 watches from Rakuten and that went ok.

The SUMO is an excellent watch, I had to get into the 2K range before I found any diver I preferred over it.

Pay the extra cash for the two year warranty and dealing with an AD in the states, if you get a misaligned bezel, or wonky bracelet it can go right back easily. It's worth the extra cash IMO. Just looking at the JDM Seiko's here I'm almost thinking they get the rejects and ship them to the fat Americans for kicks.

And guys thanks again for all the help and info.

Now the SBDC007 difference is that it's titanium ?
Titanium and design are the main differences. The Sumo has a recessed bezel, and a crown at 4 o'clock the Shogun has a crown at 3 and a more subtle sub type look. Other than that the crystal and movement are basically identical.

Island watch is the seller, he's selling the Sumo for like $549.00 or so, IMO it's worth the added cost to not have to deal with Japanese resellers.

Hey thanks. Dam now I don't know should I go the the Sumo or the shogun. Is it worth the extra money. I really don't care for the titanium.

Seiko uses Diashield Titanium on the Shogun which is more difficult to scratch than your typical titanium, and has a nice shimmer similar to stainless steel from the looks of it. The Sumo and Shogun are very stylistically different in my opinion; the hands, bezel, markers, lug width (Sumo is 20mm and Shogun is 22mm), and case design are all different. The similarities are the 6R15 movement and the domed hardlex crystal.

I have a black sumo and love it. What set it above the Shogun the most for me were the hands. It's not because the Shogun's hands are stylistically similar to the Monster's hands, I'm not just a fan of the design; the hour hand looks too short and stubby for me. Secondly the price; the Sumo has been called by many the undisputed champion in the ~$500 for good reasons. The case design on this watch is fantastic, with brilliantly placed polished curves with brushed accents. The lugs... oh the lugs. The Sumo's curved lugs are beautiful, one of the main highlights of this watch for me, which is better accomplished with the 20mm lug width. The recessed bezel on the Sumo looks really good in my opinion. The 4 o'clock crown is another plus for me, both for style and function. And lastly using stainless steel over titanium. I like to "feel" the watch on my wrist because when I don't I'm more likely to bump and brush into things to ding up the case that I otherwise wouldn't.

The Shogun is no slouch though by any means. It has much less polished surfaces and instead has a satin brushed finish that looks incredible. The bezel looks great, especially if you're going after the more traditional looking style. Both the Sumo and Shogun share the same great matte finish dials. And stylistically the Shogun's case has been compared to a matured version of the Samurai, and I can see it. The 22mm lug width is also a big plus for many.

*I just noticed that in this picture the Shogun's hands have been modified from the original design.

If you do not have a Sumo get one is the bottom line..you will be pleased and then get a Tuna, Showgun and MM300 if you can..

I just got Shogun few weeks ago and can't take it of the wrist,in last two years I really want to buy Sumo but always something comes before, maby becouse Sumo is popular model so no word of discontinuation.Maby you running of time for Shogun,if you have founds my humble advice is to get it until you still can,I think they discontinueted it few weeks ago.If you don't like it you can always sell it they going here for $850-900 2nd hand. You can always get blue Sumo down the track, witch I will do in a few months so you have two amazing watches in collection.I had to sell 3 watches for my Shogun and never looked back.In my humble opinion I think that Shogun can go well on leather strap in casual variant too.Good luck and happy hunting.
